Role Summary/Purpose

Within the GE Renewable Energy Business, the Hydro market is expected to grow in the comings years especially in the medium/small, service and digital markets. Hydro has today a global industrial footprint in Europe, China, India, North-America and Latin America. The addition of Hydro will complement the existing GE energy portfolio, helping to build a leading GE Renewable Energy.
Essential Responsibilities

In the Center of excellence responsible for special calculations and tool development the candidate will be the expert for programming of analytical calculation programs for large Hydro Generators and also expert in performing complex CFD calculation for rotating machine. He/she works for the development and the documentation of electrical, thermal and mechanical calculation programs. He/she supports actively the implementation of new calculation tools in the Business Units and decides according to the process manual. He/she will also maintain old tools.

·  Develops calculation programs and theory behind regarding the ventilation of generator

·  Performs analytical and or some more complex calculations with the internal tool or with commercial tools (CFD), in order to support other functions or to validate the tools
·  Train other Center of Excellence on ventilation tools and calculations
·  Supports the implementation of new calculation tools in the Business Units with an open-minded product approach
·  Follows up the state of the art in simulation and fluid dynamics (conferences, publication) of flow in rotating machine in order to implement in the internal tool
·  Maintains ventilation and mechanical calculation programs
·  Provides strong technical support to the Business Units for their daily business (technical reports)

·  Information and feedback to other parties in the process
·  Participates to internal and external transfer of technology

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Mechanical Engineer, M.Sc with a PhD in CFD simulation
·  Deep knowledge in the theory of vortices, turbulence and boundary layers
·  Practical knowledge in CFD calculations, in particularly in vortex simulation for rotating machines
·  Knowledge in object-oriented programming ideally C, C++, Python
·  Team player
·  Ability to work in a global organization with a lot of interactions with other teams
·  Fluent in English

·  German and/or French knowledge
