Role Summary/Purpose
As a part of Hardware CoE team, the mechanical component engineer will support creation of technology roadmaps and help deliver standardized mechanical components to various product teams. In addition, this person will leverage the standardized components to identify VCP opportunities on existing products
Essential Responsibilities
• Support and provide input in creation of GEHC component technology roadmaps, based on industry trends and GEHC requirements. This includes defining standardized components to be used by product teams.
• Create 3D models for standardized components
• Evaluate supplier change requests and execute engineering change requests associated with standardized components
• Perform analysis on existing components to identify cost savings opportunity by switching to standardized components
• Research component data sheets and technical specifications and evaluate technical attributes of components to identify & recommend alternate sources for obsolete or high cost components
Desired profile
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelors in Mechanical engineering
• 2 - 5 years of relevant industrial experience in design and development
• Knowledge of mechanical components suppliers/vendors & market for latest trends and technology
• Ability to read and understand component datasheets and interpret specifications including 3-dimensional component views
• Experience with creating 3D models in Creo or similar CAD tool
• Complete understanding/working knowledge of engineering design documentation and standard document control practices
• Must be able to work effectively in a global cross-functional team environment
• Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task
• Excellent teamwork, coordination and communication skills
Desired Characteristics
• Experience with GEHC tools— PLM systems (MyWorkshop and/or Agile), SQCS, ESMART
• Depth of knowledge in one or more specific mechanical component types (Plastics, Metals, Cables harness, etc.)
• Experience with global & cross-functional teamwork
