Job Description Summary

The MMS Optimization Engineer will be part of the Market Management System team delivering software solutions in Energy Market and Electrical Grid areas in key European projects. He The successful candidate will participate with the integration of advanced Market Management Solution and Optimization-based applications for Energy Market and Capacity Regulation Platforms, which includes functional design, software design, development, testing, application integration, tuning and customer support.

Essential Responsibilities –

  • Specification and design of new functionality, including definition of acceptance criteria and test cases, in optimization-based software for Energy and Capacity Market solutions for Market Operators, Transmission System Operators and Regional Security Coordinators.
  • Validation and tuning of optimization-based software applications.
  • Support troubleshooting and deep analysis of identified issues during system validation and its maintenance when it is live.
  • Interface and develop good relationships with customers and partners for the delivery and maintenance of our solutions.
  • Ensure that quality assurance standards and procedures are followed in all aspects of the implementation.
  • Design Proof of Concept to respond to a technical and specific question on the business
  • Contribute to business development through supporting tendering team for technical proposals and solution demonstrations to customers.

Qualifications/Requirements –

  • Power systems engineering or software engineering with good knowledge in optimization domain and good electrical grid and electrotechnical knowledge – PhD or master’s degree.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the implementation of software solutions including optimization components in Energy Market domain.
  • Strong knowledge on mathematical modeling principles of optimization problems (LP, MIP, QP) required.
  • Good knowledge of the energy market domain (Power exchange, balancing market, flow-based market coupling, flexibility, and congestion management markets) required.
  • Desired programming skills and adaptability to new languages (C++, Python, AIMMS optimization tool…).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be comfortable exchanging on technical design and engaging in technical discussions with the team (English mandatory, French is a plus).
