Role Summary/Purpose

We are looking for an experienced training manager to deliver on out technical training assessment duties and to devise an optimised training strategy, oversee its implementation and assess its outcomes.
Essential Responsibilities

The Training Manager will be required to:

·  Lead a team of Training Specialists who are assessing and delivering technical training to Dowty manufacturing personnel. (Both Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) and Repair & Overhaul (R&O) activities in multiple sites around Gloucester

·  Ensures regulatory compliance of the technical training portfolio and metrics.

·  Identify and assessing future and current training needs through job analysis, career paths, annual performance appraisals and consultation with line managers

·  Drawing an overall or individualized training and development plan

·  In consultation with GE colleague develop and deliver a new company strategy for optimized technical training delivery

·  Deploy a wide variety of training methods

·  Develop training resources, tools, processes and facilities as appropriate.

You will work across numerous technical manufacturing departments to identify training and developmental needs and drive suitable training initiatives that build employee retention, productivity and quality by:

·  Maintaining training delivery records.(individuals and department)

·  Planning training / assessment activities.

·  Assess employee competences (post training).

·  Provide feedback to trainers on quality of training delivered.

·  Provide training solutions to non-standard training requests.

·  Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Production Leaders in reviewing shop-floor process documentation (routing cards etc..) and optimised training modules.

·  Run the Apprentice program for all Dowty Manufacturing Apprentices.

·  Recruit and train Training team personnel.

·  Manage training budget

·  Conduct effective induction and orientation sessions

·  Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices

·  Resolve any specific problems and tailor training programs as necessary

·  Build a network with other GE training personnel and external academic and industrial partners.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Significant proven work experience as a training manager in a technical industry.

·  Track record in designing and executing successful training programs

·  Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations etc)

·  Excellent communication and leadership skills

·  Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively

·  Strong writing and record keeping ability for reports and training manuals Good computer and database skills

·  BS degree or equivalent knowledge in education, human resources or relevant technical field
