Are you passionate about training the next generation of technical experts?

We're looking for a dynamic Manager for our Technical Institute to lead and grow our training programs for both internal teams and external clients.

Based in Stafford and reporting to the Regional Competency Manager (CNE), you'll shape the future of knowledge transfer within the Grid business by developing, delivering, and continuously improving our UK training operations.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

·  Training Strategy – Design and deliver tailored training programs based on customer needs and internal skill development goals
·  Technical Leadership – Serve as the go-to expert for technical training topics in the UK Grid business, ensuring in-house expertise remains cutting-edge
·  Training Delivery – Conduct and coordinate hands-on, engaging sessions for internal teams and external customers
·  Proposal Management – Develop training proposals in response to customer RFQs and specific project needs
·  Project Execution – Manage end-to-end training delivery: planning trainers, scheduling sessions, ensuring high customer satisfaction, issuing certifications, and managing timelines
·  Financial Oversight – Track project budgets, gross margin, and net margin to ensure training activities are commercially sound
·  Performance Reporting – Provide regular reports on key KPIs such as order intake, trainee numbers, and training days
·  Business Development – Identify and act on growth opportunities in the training space; build investment cases where needed; proactively engage with customers to secure new orders
·  Quality Improvement – Maintain and enhance training materials, updating outdated content and incorporating new products and technologies

Requirements:

·  Advanced and demonstrated years of experience in HV equipment.
·  Technical & Commercial experience in HV products.
·  Engineer degree or diploma in electrical or mechanical.
·  Excellent communication skills.
·  High autonomy combined with a proactive and pragmatic approach to work.

Lichfield Road manufacturing facility has been originally established in 1903 and has been standing since 1960 as a part of English Electric group, delivering power transformers, that later merged GEC Alsthom and later became ALSTOM, and has been acquired by GE in 2015. Stafford is ideally suited for research and advanced manufacturing with our highly skilled staff and position at the heart of the UK's transport network. GE is proud to be the largest employer in Stafford, with around 1,700 employees across multiple sites.

The transformer facility has been renowned all over the world with its expertise in design, manufacturing, and delivery of HVAC and HVDC transformers world-wide, up to 800kV.
