Role Summary/Purpose

Responsible for DMS Cotonou local EHS activities & daily customer relationship by delegation of Project Director based in Massy (HQ). The scope is to manage, supervise on-site EHS rules implementation, and control project deployment from installation planning up to final system acceptance in accordance with: local regulations, quality of deliverables, under high stringent EHS plan and report in candid way all near misses and take immediate action to stop project with local project when needed.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Direct report: Customer site activities EHS manager

·  Complexity: Involved in several technologies and several projects, as parallel deployment on several sites is foreseen.

·  Technical Engineering Design

·  Lead and directly engaged in security plan definition and appliance of GE policy with respect to EHS rules by all involved parties during equipment deployment (installation, commissioning, acceptance)

·  Build local activities planning for EHS security audit and prevention control stages

·  Accountable for EHS and Security rules are known and applied over all risky activities, shall be able to train and explain the rational for the protection and prevention plan to involved parties

·  Accountable for budgets on assigned area, like RFQ for buying personal protective equipment and Group protective equipment (PPE: shoes, helmet etc…) from budget review elaboration up to support to procurement for negotiation at site

·  Provides input to site Project Director, identifies technical risk/mitigations, and allocation of resources (staff qualifications / duration of activities), and collect near misses’ reports

·  Provide to Cotonou Project Director a weekly report highlighting progress of work, risks & difficulties, main tasks scheduled for the week after, and plan EHS audit on sites

·  Manage DMS Cotonou subcontractors in assigned area:

·  EHS prevention plan and staff definition

·  Technical meeting, to train and control rules for security are understood

·  Learning from field on near miss and share among teams’ best practices to prevent risks

·  Provides technical direction in assigned area

·  Coordinate appropriate mentorship, coaching security rules and focus on skill enhancement of involved resources

·  Provides to Project Director inputs of his / her resources: performance evaluation and proposal for development (training needed, high potentials detection)

·  Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

·  Stop work and report to EHS Manager when work is unsafe or when an uncontrolled risk is observed.

·  Actively and routinely promotes the identification of hazards and near misses

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Educational Requirements

·  Requires master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent or equivalent work experience in energy EHS environment. Native French speaker, and fluent English skills or equivalent knowledge or experience

·  Qualifications / Requirements:

·  High experience in EHS (5 years), including budget preparation and elaboration of security prevention plan

·  Ability to select and supervise subcontractors

·  High level of reporting (accuracy, synthetic, candid) including metrics (project progress, risk management, KPI’s) during deployment preparation, deployment phase and acceptance of the system

·  Capacity to produce project management documentations (minutes of meetings, correspondence with customer, setting up action plans, punch list, KPI’s, planning, strategy documents, outage plan, white papers, risk mitigation plan, security training plan).

·  Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to write professional and technical reports and procedures. Ability to make formal and informal presentations to technical and non-technical staff and customers in French and English

·  Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization with customer and inside GE, including legal team (Near Miss warning, stop work, action plan chase-up)

·  Strong computer science skills required including use of standard MS Office applications (word, excel, power point, Microsoft project).

·  Shall be knowledgeable of technical issues, in order to make sound decisions and give the ‘STOP WORK’ immediately in rules are not obeyed before accident shall occur

·  Ability to work independently and be self-motivated and mentor /inspire staff to obey defined rules

·  Ability to work effectively with other management and groups. Fosters a team environment

Must have valid authorization to work full-time without any restriction in the role’s location
Desired Characteristics

·  Candidate must have knowledge in Electric Safety principles and be used to deploy large systems with leadership, supervising local teams, and subcontractors, ensuring they respect EHS rules and respect the prevention plan defined and approved with customer in phase with GE practices
