Role Summary/Purpose

The Lighting Designer(LD) works to support our strategic account sales opportunities with compliant lighting layouts to meet the clients lighting and payback requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

·  Designs and develops detailed lighting schemes to support sales of solutions. This will primarily cover industrial, commercial and retail applications

·  Apply design software, to produce lighting designs for indoor & exterior applications, to industry standards and customer specifications

·  Works to develops designs with input from application engineers / sales team / customers during the project

·  Applies relevant industry and segment guidelines, standards and regulatory trends and ensures the commercial team are conversant with them

·  Collaborates on product and project presentation to end users, specifies, partners (ESCOs), engineers and architectural offices

·  Creates best in class presentation of the lighting solutions proposed for clients

·  Interacts with the stakeholders to ensure the lighting effect meets the customers and regulatory requirements.

·  Implements design changes (if required)

·  Supports lighting payback calculations (ROI) on a project by project basis in order to meet customer expectations.

·  Supports the Applications team with audits & site surveys

·  Travels to client locations to educate, direct and coordinate design of lit spaces.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Relevant industry qualifications in Lighting Design

·  Experience of delivering lighting design projects

·  Fully conversant with Relux or Dialux software, with AGI an advantage

·  Knowledge of industry organizations and understanding of standards influencing industry designs

·  Knowledge of International lighting and photometric standards

·  Able to understand and communicate technical and commercial data to sales teams and customers

·  PC literate (MS Word, Excel, Power-point, MSX/ Outlook)

·  Skilled in Autocad (Drawing manipulation and output) is essential

·  Desire/drive to improve knowledge and skills

·  Organized, attentive to detail

·  Understanding of the use of Photoshop is an advantage but not essential
