Role Summary/Purpose

The Lean Manufacturing Specialist will lead the implement of the Lean transformation strategy as it aligns to the business’ core competencies; partner with the organization leadership team at all levels to drive product flow and process improvements that deliver lead time reductions and maximize cash flow. Further develop the site’s Lean culture by leading the Lean Coordinators Program and facilitating Lean Six-Sigma training at all levels of the organization.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Lead Lean transformations within manufacturing cells to improve process quality and create capacity by reducing cycle time, inventory and waste

·  Be a champion of Kaizen that impacts product flow, production to TAKT and inventory turns

·  Teach, promote and practice the Lean principles and tools

·  Lead Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events to identify process wastes and to develop and implement corrective actions

·  Create Standardized Work Instructions, layouts and process flow diagrams

·  Lead Action Work Outs to drive focused improvements in specific areas

·  Assist functional managers in establishing process flow by implementing visual management tools and methods to pull product through the work cells

·  Apply Lean Six Sigma tools to improve process capability and eliminate defects

·  Help create a culture of problem solving

·  Facilitate, train and coach team members in the use of the GE Aviation Production system, Lean Six Sigma, and Problem-solving tools

·  Educate, coach and mentor others on Lean philosophy and application

·  Lead the site’s hourly Lean Coordinator program

·  Assist with the development and implementation of the Lean Training Matrix

·  Communicate and coordinate effectively with supply chain partners to achieve goals and results

·  Identify potential process improvement projects and execute on areas of opportunities to support plants and product groups in achieving their financial goal
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college

·  Minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing, Lean and/or Shop Floor environment

·  Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

·  Effective problem identification, problem-solving and solution skills

·  Proven analytical, facilitation and organizational ability

·  Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma / Equivalent Quality and Operational Excellence

·  Six Sigma Green / Black belt certification or equivalent quality certification

·  Experience with TPM & Kaizen Methods

·  Experience with Lean Transformation, Lean Implementation and Change Management

·  Experience with Lean Tools (e.g., 5s, Kanban, Setup reduction (SMED), Poka-yoke and Value Stream Mapping)

·  Experience with Cycle-Time Improvement

·  Experience with Loss and Waste Elimination

·  Experience working in or implementing Toyota Production System, GE Aviation Production System or comparable Continuous Improvement methodology

·  Experience training others in principles of Lean methodology

·  Ability to motivate teams and lead change at all levels of the organization

·  Ability to work and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization

·  Passion / obsession for driving improvement
