Reporting directly to the UK Service Leader, as the Technical Application Engineer, you will be a key member of the operations team. In this role, you will provide engineering support, conduct surveys at customer sites, assist the commercial team, and answer customer queries related to GE-installed Protection and Control systems. You will also be responsible for providing training to both internal and external customers.
As the successful candidate, you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply technical concepts to issues of moderate to high complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
Job Description
Main Responsibilities
· Review, analyze, and resolve assigned customer application inquiries using sound engineering principles, while adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/deadline requirements.
· Collaborate with the commercial/sales team to ensure the best technical solution aligns with customer specifications.
· Provide technical support to the Operations/Service teams to assist with project execution, FATs, SATs, and site commissioning.
· Support engineering tasks related to Protection and Control systems.
· Manage fault reports and customer complaints in accordance with established procedures.
· Assist with both internal and external training activities, including classroom and commissioning-based training.
· Continuously expand knowledge of new products and systems.
· Develop and enhance technical expertise in line with recognized industry standards for engineering proficiency.
Required Qualifications
· Advanced experience in Electrical Engineering, with knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and demonstrated experience in project/service roles.
· Experience in Substation Automation Systems, including technical support, testing, maintenance, and commissioning in transmission, distribution, industrial, and power plant environments.
· Ability to analyze specific applications and produce detailed technical reports.
· Willingness to travel both within the UK and internationally.
· A valid driver’s license.
