Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

The Systems Team Leader is responsible for leading all Systems activity across a multi-functional program. In this role you will be responsible for leading all systems activities on a program, solving problems, developing and executing on objectives for self and others, with the ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, scheduling, quality, certification, and contract commitments; make technical decisions which balance all these factors
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments
  • Where required, engage in technical discussions at a customer level (internal or external)
  • Support the identification, mitigation and capture of risks and opportunities
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Provide technical leadership to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization; provide feedback on staff performance.
  • Identify and communicate potential simplification and efficiency improvements

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Previous experience in an aviation, automotive or similar systems development environment working to rigorous standards such as ARP4754A, will confirm your experience of working with complex system designs, for implementation in hardware and software.
  • Your existing experience will allow you to contribute and lead teams to design, modify and verify display and controller systems in collaboration with other technical leads, teams and our customers.
  • An appropriate degree or equivalent experience that demonstrate a logical mindset, alongside good problem solving and solution building skills.
  • Previous experience in leading team-based projects and providing direction and coaching to less experienced staff.
  • Strong organisation and communication skills.
