ABOUT THE ROLE
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, talented, and experienced Systems Engineer to join GE Vernova Power Conversion’s Lead Engineering team.
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lead Systems Integration Engineer to spearhead the integration of rotating electrical machines and their control systems within a major UK Naval project, while leading a dedicated integration team.
This role requires a strong leadership capability, technical expertise in an engineering discipline, and the ability to derive top-level requirements down to sub-system components, ensuring seamless interface management and system integration.
The Lead Systems Integration Engineer will report directly to the Systems Lead Engineering Manager.
Team Leadership and Management:
· Lead and manage a team of system engineers focused on the integration of a rotating electrical machine solution and its associated control systems.
· Foster a collaborative environment, promoting skill development and effective teamwork.
Integration of a Rotating Electrical Machine Solution:
· Oversee the integration of rotating electrical machinery with its ancillary equipment and associated control systems within a Naval platform.
· Develop and implement strategies to ensure optimal system performance and compatibility.
Interface Management:
Plan and progress all engineering integration related activities for the project, inclusive of communication to team members.
· Manage and coordinate interfaces between different subsystems and components, ensuring smooth integration and interoperability.
· Address and resolve interface issues promptly to maintain project timelines.
Requirements Derivation:
· Derive top-level requirements and translate them into detailed specifications for sub-system components and manage their traceability.
· Ensure all requirements are aligned with project goals and operational needs.
Technical Expertise:
· Apply engineering principles to address integration challenges related to rotating machines and their control systems.
· Coordinate system analysis and support verification and validation activities.
Collaboration and Communication:
· Coordinate with project managers, the project engineering manager, project engineers, and stakeholders to facilitate integration activities.
· Communicate technical progress and findings to internal teams and external stakeholders effectively.
Documentation and Reporting:
· Maintain detailed documentation of integration processes, V&V results, and system configurations.
· Ensure adherence to relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements in all activities.
Continuous Improvement:
· Identify and implement opportunities for enhancing integration processes and systems.
· Monitor, control and manage engineering budgets and change control system.
· Lead and manage project integration technical risks.
· Liaise with external stakeholders, partners, sub-contractors and suppliers as appropriate to support the project integration.
· Maintain engineering quality control system for the project and support APQP deliverables.
Qualifications/Requirements
· Minimum of a Degree or equivalent in engineering or higher, Masters or PhD in relevant field.
· Extant Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), or the ability to obtain BPSS is required for this role.
· Proficient with software simulation & design tools, MATLAB, Simulink essential. eTAP desirable.
· Extensive experience in systems integration, particularly in rotating electrical machines and control systems within the naval or maritime industry.
· Proven leadership skills with experience managing engineering teams.
· Understanding of motor and generator technologies, control system design, and interface management.
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects concurrently.
