Job Description

As a Lead Power Electronics Engineer, you will be key player in our multidisciplinary Systems Engineering group. You'll contribute to the delivery of innovative MW-scale drive and power conversion systems for high-impact applications across Marine, Energy, and Industrial sectors.

Reporting directly to the Power Electronics Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading & executing the comprehensive design process for Low- and Medium- Voltage power electronics for Drive Systems projects.

Your Impact: What You’ll Do

As Lead Power Electronics Packaging Engineer, you will:

·  Lead the end-to-end design and integration of electromechanical packaging solutions for high-power drive systems (LV/MV).
·  Own the mechanical and electrical design of power converters and enclosures, integrating structural, thermal, and electrical packaging.
·  Drive design for manufacturing (DfM) initiatives, ensuring cost-effective, scalable, and robust hardware architectures.
·  Interpret and direct electrical schematics using tools like Eplan and manage BOMs with robust change control.
·  Lead or support thermal and structural simulations, validation, and full-system testing, ensuring reliability under harsh operating conditions.
·  Champion compliance with health & safety, international standards, and class society requirements (e.g., Lloyd’s Register, DNV).
·  Partner with cross-functional teams across test, commissioning, and tendering to ensure solutions are delivered to spec, on time, and on budget, by managing your plans and tasks.

Essential Qualifications

·  Bachelor’s degree in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
·  Experience designing MW-class power converters, enclosures, or systems integrating both electrical and mechanical components.
·  Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., Creo) and simulation tools (e.g. Ansys) for thermal and structural packaging.
·  Understanding of converter system protection, fault-level studies, and design verification techniques.
·  Good understanding of Eplan or equivalent for electrical schematic development.
·  Experience with power electronic system testing (thermal runs, fault/abnormal condition validation, performance optimisation).
·  Possession of or eligibility to obtain for UK SC clearance.

This role involves work for customers who manage critical infrastructure; based on customer requirements it will be necessary to carry out background checks and suitability assessments (UK SC clearance) as part of the hiring process. Read more on national security vetting levels here .
