As part of the Industrialisation Function within the SMS Global Supply Chain Team and reporting to the NPI Process Manager, the Lean Manufacturing role is responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing methods, Jigs and Fixtures, work instructions and processes to support the introduction of New Product Lines.

This process will utilise excellent Lean Manufacturing methodology and be in line with defined design / quality standards.

Job Description

Scope & Summary of the Role & Execution Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for developing, implementing, maintaining and improving manufacturing methods, work instructions and processes for a range of Products utilising excellent Lean Manufacturing methodology and in line with defined design / quality standards.
  • Provide technical expertise to the design teams in Product development cycles and DFX reviews.
  • Lead engineering evaluations, PFMEA,  statistical analysis and corrective actions supporting process improvement efforts.
  • Evaluate, troubleshoot and problem-solve automated production equipment, fixtures, tools, materials, and processes.
  • Participate in technical design review meetings and co-engineering meetings and other multi-functional review meetings.
  • Design and implement jigs and fixtures to support the Lean Manufacturing methodology.

EHS Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the ergonomic assessment, design and implementation of manufacturing workstations and manufacturing solutions used within SMS.
  • Take reasonable care of your own safety, your colleague’s safety and the environment.
  • Comply with GE Health and Safety Policy and Environment Policy.
  • Identify and evaluate EHS risk in own area and implements practical measures.
  • Participate in hierarchical / team safety visits and contribute to EHS improvement initiatives.
  • Actively participate in defining corrective actions when work is unsafe or when an uncontrolled risk is observed.

Quality:

  • Comply with GE Vernova quality procedures and processes.

Educational Requirements & Preferred Experience:

  • Suitable experience of implementing Lean Manufacturing Systems and designing production processes and leading teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of Quick turn / New Products Introduction.
  • Knowledgeable in IPC, and ISO Standards.
  • Good knowledge of a business ERP system setup (BOM, routing etc) (preferably SAP).
  • Knowledge of a business Manufacturing Engineering System and setup process.
  • Experience of Jig and Fixture design using 3D CAD and 3D printing. (preferably Solidwork).

Qualifications:

  • Degree from an accredited university or college and/or significant experience in electronics or electro-mechanical Manufacturing.

Personal skills:

  • Good Organisational & Communication skills.
  • Project Management skills and Communication skills.
  • The ability to Plan own time and use performance indicators to check the progress and results of tasks.
  • English (Fluent) - essential
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office application (Excel, Word)
  • Ability to train others in use of equipment and process techniques.
