Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead Manufacturing Engineer - Probe line - is the technical lead for the Probe Line Value stream team. Responsible for technical problem resolution for both the products and assembly process steps/ equipment in the probe line value stream. Will lead the team in developing and implementing improved manufacturing processes to ensure the highest quality and most efficient production of products. Will drive continuous improvement and resolve technical issues for the Probe Line team.

In the role of Manufacturing Engineer, you will:

·  Be the technical problem solver - requires hands on knowledge of production process related to commercial assemblies consisting of mechanical, electrical, optical, and software components

·  Probe product expert – become subject matter expert for the construction processes associated with BHGE video borescope

·  Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective action on technical problems with the product when issues arise

·  Provide technical support to customers including source inspection support for Government customers

·  Collaborate with R&D Engineering and other functional departments to implement improved product and process changes

·  Seek out and introduce innovative technologies relevant to the product and process for BHGE borescopes

·  Provide hands on support to assembly operators, technicians, and supervisor to ensure that daily, weekly, monthly business objects of the probe line are me

·  Train & develop technicians and lead operators in best practices assembly and maintenance techniques

·  Ownership of production process documentation integrity

·  Prepare & process engineering change documents, to facilitate controlled implementation of product & process changes in production

·  Prepare & process test reports, to facilitate completion of verification and validation of changes to product or process, when required

·  Proactively identify and solve safety related issues through the Safety Concern and Near Miss reporting system

·  Design, document, validate and implement Manufacturing Operating Plans (MOP) such that the standard process will produce products at the desired quality level with the planned number of assembly operators. Tools used in MOP are: process flow map, takt time, time study, line balance, equipment set-up, quality checks, equipment repeatability and other lean manufacturing tools.

·  Participate in daily and monthly Probe Line Operating rhythms focused on providing accurate visual management to communicate daily results and status of issues for key metrics of: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Tooling needs, and more

·  Drive timely completion of quality issues utilizing the GE quality tools: NCR, RMA, Customer Concerns, Gensuite
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s Degree in technical discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial engineering) from an accredited college or university (OR Associates Degree from an accredited college or university with minimum 5 years of production engineering experience)

·  Minimum 3 years of production engineering experience

·  Strong working knowledge of basic mechanical hand tools, and gauges (caliper, Mics, etc.)

·  Knowledge of video systems & software, micro optics and micro illumination technologies preferred

·  Strong mechanical / electrical troubleshooting skills

·  Demonstrate general understanding of lean manufacturing methodology

·  Strong oral and written communication skills

·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

·  Demonstrated ability to influence others and lead small teams

·  Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact

·  Demonstrated ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
