Lead Manufacturing Engineer
Hooksett, USA
Job description
Job Description Summary
Lead the standardization and control of processes for CFM BX and PP20 parts across assembly, braze, and wire EDM to make them flow-line ready and stabilize LEAP Flow line performance. Own validation and introduction of tools/equipment, deploy data-driven problem solving and PFMEA/MSA/SPC, and drive measurable improvements in OEE, FPY, Cpk, cycle time, and on-time-to-schedule while coaching teams and coordinating cross-functionally to achieve SQDIP outcomes.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
· Define, standardize, and control production processes for CFM BX and PP20 parts to make them flow-line ready—including tooling, fixturing, and equipment—across assembly, braze, and wire EDM.
· Validate design specifications and shop-floor application for new tools and equipment; ensure process readiness for ECNs and ramp-to-rate.
· Monitor and improve key metrics to stabilize and sustain LEAP flow-line performance (e.g., OEE, FPY, on critical features, processing time, on-time-to-schedule) and deploy data-driven countermeasures.
· Apply structured problem solving (A3/8D/KATA), PFMEA, control plans, MSA, and SPC to increase process capability, reduce defects, and improve first-pass yield.
· Use sound judgment to resolve complex, interdependent production issues; propose solutions beyond set parameters to improve takt adherence and reduce cycle time.
· Lead projects, manage risks and resources, and coordinate cross-functionally (Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, Maintenance) to achieve SQDIP objectives.
· Coach and mentor operators and early-career engineers; reinforce standard work, visual controls, and layered accountability to sustain improvements.
· Benchmark best practices and competitive differentiators; integrate learnings to strengthen flow-line performance and special process compliance (e.g., braze).
· This role will be a split shift 1st/2nd.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years manufacturing experience) + minimum of 3 years manufacturing engineering experience
Desired Characteristics
· Strong communicator who builds cross-functional alignment with Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, and Maintenance.
· Proven problem solver with a data-driven approach (A3/8D/Kata) and the ability to stabilize and improve flow lines.
· Program manager capable of planning and executing equipment/tooling introductions and ECNs while managing risk and schedule.
· Technical degree preferred (Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing); solid fundamentals in process engineering.
· Prior experience with machining and high-temperature alloys; exposure to braze and wire EDM controls is a plus.
· Demonstrated use of PFMEA, control plans, MSA/SPC to lift critical features and improve FPY/OEE.
· Leadership through influence: coaches operators and peers, reinforces standard work and visual management.
· Behaviors: humble, transparent, focused, decisive, and collaborative.
