The Hydro Digital Predictive Monitoring & Project Engineer will join the Digital Hydro organization which operates in a start-up environment to develop new POC (Proof of Concept), pilot it, then deploy and roll it at scale. Digital Hydro intents to connect the hydro power plant equipment, analyses the data and provides customer with recommendations to generate outcomes: decrease costs, mitigate equipment failure risk, increase revenues, and improve equipment operation flexibility.

The Hydro Digital Predictive Monitoring & Project Engineer will be part of the remote monitoring and diagnostic team (rM&D) dedicated to Hydro assets. The remote monitoring team is using data coming from heterogenous sources (direct connection to the plant / site or lab measurement) to develop algorithms and models that will support recommendations to increase the global performances of Hydroelectric assets. The role of the Digital Project & Predictive Monitoring Engineer is to analyze the data coming from Hydro machines using GE’s Machine Learning software and deliver recommendations on operation and maintenance to the customers and/or to the field service engineers. Prior to that, He is responsible for setting up the digital solution: communication gateways to collect site data and stream to GE’s Cloud platforms, perform tag mapping, data modeling, model tunning and improvements. He can be asked to travel to sites from time to time to support the hydro service control system team. A prior experience with hydro plant processes and control & automation system (SACAD) is a plus.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

·  Define the system IT architecture (with SCADA, historian, OSISoft PI etc. interfaces), deploy the digital solution to stream the data to GE’s cloud platform
·  Perform site survey sensor gap assessment to identify the existing sensors and define the missing ones to run the appropriate predictive models
·  Set-up the remote connectivity from the site to GE’s Cloud platform
·  Analyze data from Hydroelectric power plants to formulate data-driven insights and recommendations to increase the productivity and profitability of the plants (rM&D service). Leverage GE Machine Learning software (APM Reliability, SmartSignal), to identify anomaly and incipient failures.
·  Coordinate with the proper hydro equipment experts within GE’s Hydro organization to provide deeper technical analysis
·  Represent the Hydro Service and Digital team in front of customers to show and explain the analysis done on its machines – manage weekly and monthly customer reviews
·  Provide support to tendering activities for product presentation and demos
·  Provide rM&D services to customers located in Asia, Middle East and Europe
·  Availability to travel to sites from time to time and provide support to the Hydro services team

Qualifications:

·  Experience with Hydro power plant processes and equipment (Turbine, Generator, Auxiliaries, and instrumentation) or Technical experience of rotating machinery and/or power generating units
·  Experience on Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System Design.  Programming Logic Controllers (PLC), configuring and designing HMI, Modbus communication, OSISoft PI
·  SQL database inquiry scripting and maintenance; Industrial server software application installed, managed and maintenance.
·  Knowledge of instrumentation and sensors
·  Good oral and written communication skills
·  Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Engineering
·  High Autonomy and self-starter
·  Fluent in written and spoken English
