Job Description Summary

Lab Specialist/Technician Performs the designated tasks and specific duties within the aerothermal lab by complying with the lab processes, procedures, and lab in-charge instructions. Mainly he/she must adhere to all the lab safety protocols, without compromising on safety. This individual roles & responsibilities include operating the Test rigs/ Lab equipment for testing, maintaining the lab equipment, and acquiring the test data /stamping during the lab testing.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities: As a lab Specialist/technician for Materials Testing, the candidate would be responsible on the below areas (but not limited to)

·  Responsible for daily operations of the mechanical/Creep testing lab equipment, ensuring all processes are conducted safely and efficiently.
·  Will support day to day lab operations by adhering to the lab related procedures, protocols, and best practices.
·  Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations and protocols.
·  Implement safety measures and conduct regular safety audits to ensure compliance.
·  Follow quality control procedures to ensure high standards are maintained in laboratory testing and spray coating processes. Work on safe operation procedures and ensure it is adhered by the team/operators.
·  Monitor and evaluate laboratory results for accuracy and reliability, document the data and record keeping.
·  Responsible for design and construction of test facilities, test rigs, instrumentation systems.
·  Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
·  Coordinate with vendors for equipment servicing and repairs as needed.
·  Resolves issues using established procedures. Consults supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
·  Encourage continuous learning and development within the team; identify gaps in skillsets for training needs.
·  Collaborates with others to solve the lab operational issues. Exchanges technical information asks questions and checks for understanding.

Required Qualifications

·  Candidate must have graduate degree in engineering/diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronics or equivalent from a reputed Institute or University. Must have a minimum working experience of 3 years in the relevant field.
·  Candidate should possess knowledge of industrial safety processes for fire, chemical, electrical, compressed gases and the LOTO procedures.
·  Candidate should have hands-on knowledge/experience in testing operations (UTM, Fatigue, Pressure Vessels, Thermal Spray systems etc.)
·  Candidate should have hands-on experience in the assembly/ dis-assembly process of the rig, mounting and dis-mounting and instrumentation. Knowledge on EOT/ Gantry cranes and forklifts.
·  Candidate must be familiar with Microsoft Office tools including power point, excel, word, outlook, and teams.
·  Candidate should be able to understand the Engineering drawings and should have worked on modeling tools like Unigraphics, AutoCAD etc.
·  Candidate has basic knowledge on PLC, controls and process.
·  Candidate must be ready to operate in shifts and needs to travel to Customer site for field testing anywhere within the country or outside of the country, if required (~10% travel).

·  Demonstrated initiatives in proactively identifying future potential safety risks and suggesting appropriate countermeasures.
·  Ability to read, understand, interpret, and apply applicable safety (EHS) regulations to comply with rig/ site requirements.
·  Proficiency with testing methods and quality related tools including six sigma initiatives
