Essential Responsibilities
• Generate and explore new areas for data analytics development by working with the other functions in company like Engineering, Field Operations, Sales, and IT.
• Engage with business stakeholders to understand the business requirements
• Work in technical teams in application and deployment of Internal Software Platform (Predix) or Business Analytics tool
• Perform exploratory, and targeted data analysis
• Assist in determining technical approaches for major challenges; oversee application of methodologies (e.g. Principal Component Analysis, Linear Discriminant Analysis, anomaly detection using Autoregressive model, etc.) in machine condition monitoring.
• Ensure proper definition of data needs, evaluation of data quality, and recommend appropriate statistical analysis; for critical projects
• Critical thinking: ability to track down complex data and engineering issues, evaluate different algorithmic approaches, and analyze data to solve problems
• Developing diagnostic and prognostic software for machine monitoring and translate key findings into visual presentations that include graphs and charts
• Effectively communicate technical analysis and results to business management
Desired profile
Qualifications/Requirements
• Masters/PhD in STEM major e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Engineering
• 1-3 years experience working with analytical language / tool (R, Python or Matlab / JMP)
• Experience using any database and SQL (MySQL, MS SQL Server etc.)
• Knowledge of machine learning / data mining methods such as PCA, LDA, Neural Net
• Strong English oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Desired Characteristics
• Experience in anomaly detection for time-series data
• Experience in signal/image processing, electrical engineering
• Experience using Scripting (Pig, Python, Perl, etc.)
• Experience in a research organization performing on-demand, exploratory, and targeted data analysis
• Familiarity with business analytics or business intelligence tool (Business Objects, Spotfire, Tableau, SiSense)
• Familiarity with Big Data (e.g. Hadoop, Mongo DB, Mahout)
• Familiarity with Deep learning
• Familiarity with software or web programming (Javascript, CSS, HTML)
• Familiarity with analytical reporting or development (e.g., Rmarkdown, Shiny App, IPython notebooks, PyQt, Matlab GUI)
• Ability to document, plan and organize a project
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
• Demonstrated leadership in advancing the state of the art in a technical specialty
