Role Summary/Purpose

The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) provides multi-disciplinary security support for DoD government security programs. The role of Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) requires thorough understanding and application of approaches, theories, methodologies and application of DoD compliance and regulation standards within a complex IT environment.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Strong working knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Office of the Designated Approving Authority (ODAA) certification and accreditation life cycle

·  Communications Security (COMSEC) program administration experience

·  Ability to balance regulatory compliance with the needs of the business

·  Ability to identify security vulnerabilities in a broad spectrum of hardware and software products and provide risk mitigation solutions

·  In depth knowledge of change control, configuration management and information assurance processes and procedures

·  Experience with auditing of large network environments with multiple operating systems and applications (Windows, Linux)

·  Familiarity with writing standard operating procedures (SOP) and security in depth (SID) plans

·  Experience in handling security incidents and conducting investigations with little supervision

·  Demonstrated ability to manage multiple secure programs and assess new areas for compliance
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in DoD IT security)

·  Minimum of 3 years experience in DoD government security program with CompTIA Security+ certification or higher

·  Currently possesses an active secret security clearance
