Role Summary/Purpose
In the position of HMI Engineer you will enter an exciting career field where you will assist in the engineering of systems that protect and operate power plant controls. The position requires an individual that possesses understanding of visualization software and engineering principles as well as exhibits project management and communication skills.
Essential Responsibilities
In the role of HMI Engineer, you will:
· Design and implement Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens for turbine control retrofit and BOP projects using a variety of HMI software packages using a variety of HMI software packages
· Provide technical support to software engineers in meeting customer needs on HMI applications
· Design, implement and support communication networks for control system applications
· Provide system design engineering as required to facilitate the ordering, engineering, installation (construction) design and commissioning of GE and third party control systems and industrial networks
· Support Engineering Services field personnel in technical resolution of field problems
· Handle multiple projects / activities
· Be accountable for on-time schedule performance, project milestones, customer deliverables, and compliance with regulations and standards
· Provide assistance with quality assurance on projects
· Review and interpret customer specifications.
· Perform hardware selection of system control components for HMI solutions
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) from an accredited college or university
Eligibility Requirements:
· Travel up to 10% of time domestically and internationally, as required
Desired Characteristics
· Demonstrated aptitude for and interest in or experience working with industrial network communication protocols such as OPC, Modbus, TCP / IP, ProfiBus
· Background in HMI application software including Proficy iFix, Cimplicity, Historian based products
· Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Visio
· Demonstrated interest in or experience working in the industrial controls or power generation industry
· Strong computer skills: experience setting up Windows based applications including Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 7, Windows 10, Server 2012 and proficiency in standard MS Office applications
· Technical skills in engineering design and construction practices
· Proven team player with solid cooperation, flexibility and demonstrated capacity to learn complex information quickly
· Hands-on experience programming GE Speedtronic series turbine control and Cimplicity HMI software
· Field experience in related equipment
· Good oral and written communication skills
