Job Description Summary
In this role you will be to physically inspecting and reviewing engine hardware and associated technical records for the purpose of prioritizing material for repair or scrap. This role helps provide administrative and technical solutions to support the business needs in the selection of hardware to optimize material recovery efforts.
Roles and Responsibilities:
BROAD FUNCTION:
· Perform visual inspections of on-site hardware, create technical reports of detailed findings for on-site hardware, interpret engine component technical documents with reference to engine shop manuals across GE and CFM product lines.
· Will perform visual and test inspections to engine shop manuals on a variety of aviation engine parts using inspection gauges and test equipment.
· Inspect for adherence to technical orders, specification, checklists, processing methods, and accompanying paperwork.
· Verify conditions, quantity, and identity of parts before releasing from area.
· Maintain a clean and safe work area
· Follow all safety and company policies
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· 18+ months Experience in inspection of aerospace hardware.
· Demonstrate the use of basic precision measuring instruments including micrometers, dial calipers, and dial indicators.
· Demonstrate some working knowledge of blueprints, engineering sketches, engine shop manuals and general visual inspections.
· Possess analytical aptitude with methodical attention to detail
· Experience and ability to physically pick, handle, pack and maneuver weight designated to OSHA standards on a sustained basis
· Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures
· Experience with advanced use of computers and software applications (e.g. Oracle ERP, Spotfire reporting, Microsoft Office, Engine Manuals and Illustrated Parts Catalogues, etc.)
· Experience self-directing daily work with minimal supervision
· Experience working cross-functionally, specifically coordinating with GEAM personnel, Engineering, and GE repair shops.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ability to perform visual and mechanical inspection.
· Experience using basic gauges and/or inspection techniques (calipers, verniers, 10x/white light, scribes, etc)
· Experience using special gauges, (ex: Genspec, optical comparator, articulating arm CMMs
· Ability to interact and communicate verbally and in written form with employees across all levels
· Organize and report inspection results and share with engineering or through digital tools
· Experience working with Engineering on Departure Records (DRs)
· Experience working from engine shop manuals, service bulletins, part configurations, and airworthiness directives
· Experience operating various hand and power tools
· Experience performing and troubleshooting minor inspection equipment calibrations
· Experience with non-serviceable material report (NSMR) process
· High school education or GED equivalence
· Aerospace industry experience: Min 3 years
