Role Summary/Purpose

The GE2GE Controls Engineer, Oil & Gas is a technical system architect and product expert for GE's Oil & Gas business. In this role you travel for collaboration with Oil and Gas (O&G) sub business units. Additionally, you will assist the Client Manager in the development of various solutions using Automation and Controls products and software for GE's O&G businesses.

Essential Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide expertise regarding GE's next generation Industrial Internet control system, its enablement of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) and associated next gen technology (hypervisor, advanced security, multi-core CPUs, simulation, software tools). He/she will provide insight and connection points to A&C application expertise for excitation, plant controls, unit controls and process simulation. You will help O&G take advantage of Automation and Controls (A&C's) customer support processes and global manufacturing capability. The outcome of this function is increased business between O&G and A&C while laying the groundwork to implement Predix. To be successful, the GE customer must be successful and their end customer must be successful. The person in this role will have/develop expertise in Mark VIe and PACS Systems and the integration of control systems within the Industrial Internet Control System infrastructure.

As the GE2GE Controls Engineer, Oil & Gas, you will:

·  Work closely with O&G NPI and OTR controls engineering resources on repeatable, efficient and Predix ready controls deployments
·  Ensure A&C training, personnel and project management are optimized for conversion of project revenue
·  Work with O&G product managers to develop cost effective A&C controls solutions that are integrated into their roadmaps
·  Partner with A&C Orcer to Remittance (OTR) and A&C Product Management to drive cost out of delivered controls solutions
·  Update customers on A&C migration/obsolesce strategies to keep customer ahead of technology curve
·  Help drive parts / process change to assist customer in this change
·  Travel regularly to work with O&G controls engineering teams on OTR and NPI
·  Understand customer organization and operations of business
·  Understand the customer's market and opportunities
·  Understand A&C penetration and potential opportunity with customer business
·  Feed Voice of the Customer (VOC), new technology ideas, and competitive analysis to A&C engineering & Project Management (PM) team
·  Maintain knowledge base of A&C New Product Introductions (NPIs) and A&C controls offering, and execution / application capabilities
·  Attend O&G customer events and end user activities to further A&C support of O&G initiatives
·  Assist customer sourcing teams and internal A&C teams to facilitate frictionless ordering
·  Provide technical assistance for issues across our Controls portfolio & provide interface to A&C internal resources for further technical need

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

·  Experience dealing directly with customers
·  Experience working in the O&G industry on control applications
·  Knowledge of the A&C products and the elements of the technology that enable O&G to become part of IIOT (securely connected, backward compatible, simulation capability, Predix ready)
·  Experience working as a field engineer on complex controls solutions, both hardware and Application software levels
·  Experience in plant systems engineering, to include HV & MV switchgear, rotating machinery, and auxiliary systems
·  Experience in the design philosophy and protection of critical systems, especially SIL 2, SIL3 and Fire and Gas systems

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
·  Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering or in the OTR organization of a controls based company, specifically with Mark Vie, PACS Systems and/or ex-Alstom PACS offerings (Blue line, Alspa) Eligibility Requirement:

·  Ability and willingness to travel to various O&G locations
