What impact you'll make:
As a member of our Steam Power Engineering team, you will be an active contributor to tackling one of the world’s toughest challenges of providing cleaner, more accessible energy. You will have the opportunity to work on projects or specific assignments at GE Vernova Erlanger Service Center to fulfill academic requirements and gain practical knowledge. As an intern with GE Vernova, there is an opportunity to transition into a full-time position within the service center or the GE Vernova leadership program.
What you will do:
- Work on projects often requiring independent decision-making. These projects are typically scoped to last 2 - 6 months in duration but can last for as long as 2 years.
- Work with operators and management to determine root cause of quality defects and inefficiencies based on efficiency data and standards.
- Expected to work both in an office environment and a shop floor manufacturing environment.
- Lead or assist continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain multiple projects in various departments.
- Develop graphic presentations using PowerPoint or similar programs, to communicate progress, share best practices, and provide updates.
- Perform assignments where trust and accuracy are required.
- May be asked to analyze data with Excel or various other analysis tools.
- May be asked to take on special projects that fall within the function the intern is studying. For example, may be asked to write software code if in an engineering internship or might be asked to perform compensation analysis if in a HR internship.
- May be asked to participate in early talent events, seminars, or trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Internship Term Dates:
January - May 2025 (16 week assignment)
Expected Work Schedule:
Day/1st -Shift (40 - hours weekly)
What you'll bring (Basic Qualifications)
- Must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program in an engineering discipline as listed below.
- Following majors accepted: Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
- Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding).
- Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word
- Effective time management and organizational skills; able to balance multiple priorities
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
What will make you stand out:
- Proficiency in Excel syntax and automation
- Ability to exercise independent judgment consistent with department guidelines.
- Previous experience using independent thought processes to plan ahead, process information, maintain workflow and anticipate future needs of the team.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Self-Starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction
- Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions and meet deadlines.
- Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process
- Must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to develop and maintain good customer relationships
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
- Must be willing to work in geographical area specified by the business
- Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship

The pay for this position ranges from $21.00/hour to $34.00/hour based on years of undergraduate/graduate field of study completed.
This position is also eligible for:
- Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
- Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
- Employee Assistance Program, providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services
- GE Retirement Savings Plan (RSP) after their accumulated service reaches 90 days, and they meet any other eligibility requirements as defined in the plans. (Eligibility occurs on the 1st of the month following the 90th day.)
