Job Description
What impact you'll make
GE Vernova’s Gas Power business engineers advanced, efficient natural gas-powered technologies and services, along with decarbonization solutions that aim to help electrify a lower carbon future.
As a DevOps Software Engineer Intern, you will work with the Monitoring and Diagnostics (M&D) software development team to deliver secure and reliable solutions within our DevOps software build and release pipeline. In this role you will utilize your software and problem-solving skills to solve DevOps problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
What you'll do
- Upgrade Jenkins masters version to the latest Long Term Support (LTS) version.
- Upgrade build tools on Jenkins masters and slaves, such as JAVA, Nodejs, MV VS, SonarQube Scanner, etc.
- Support upgrade and migration of automated releases to Amazon Web Services (AWS) Release instance.
- Assist in completing the AWS lambda integration for the On-prem or Cloud endpoint back into Release.
- Integrating Dynatrace and Digital.ai Release for Machine Learning releases, FPS releases. Overall improvement of ML releases and automated test.
- Integrate and verify Cybersecurity into the CI/CD pipeline
- For Computer Engineering networking for secured environments and exposure to design of embedded systems
What you'll bring (Basic Qualifications)
- Must be currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program in an engineering discipline as listed below.
- The following majors are eligible: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering with Computer Science minor
- Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding).
What will make you stand out
- Knowledge of AWS Lambda functions
- Programming experience with Java, groovy, Node JS, or python
- Experience with batch or shell scripting in Windows or Linux
- Experience with Github and Gitflow
Other Eligibility Requirements
- Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process
- Must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to develop and maintain good customer relationships
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
- Must be willing to work in Norfolk, Virginia
- Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship

The pay for this position ranges from $21.00/hr - $34.00/hr based on years of undergraduate/graduate field of study completed
This position is also eligible for:
- Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
- Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
