Role Summary/Purpose

A GE Renewable Energy Technical EID (Intern / Co-Op) will be given career development opportunity and corporate exposure with an opportunity to pursue a career within GE. Intern / Co-op assignments may include but are not limited to: materials planning & supply chain management, inventory management, manufacturing process improvement through LEAN / 5s / cost-reduction, sourcing and purchasing of product, working with environmental / health / safety teams, facilities engineering, etc.

Essential Responsibilities

As the GE Renewable Energy Technical EID (Intern/Co-Op), you will:

·  Have product focuses that may include Wind Turbine Machine Head Sub and Final Assembly, Wind Turbine Hub Assembly, Wind Turbine testing processes, Outbound Shipping and Logistics, etc.
·  Be responsible for learning and working on projects designed to improve assembly and production processes, and will gain hands on experience in project management and lean facilitation
·  Work within a manufacturing environment to evaluate and identify areas for improvement and implement these improvements
·  Additional projects may involve working with cross- functional teams that focus on improving the quality of production areas

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Must be currently enrolled in the University of West Florida
·  Must meet the minimum requirements of the UWF Co-Op Program
·  Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding)
·  Must be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program

·  Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process
·  Must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process
·  Following majors accepted: Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering
Desired Characteristics

·  Strong commitment to career in manufacturing
·  Strong interpersonal and communication skills
·  Must demonstrate strong initiative and leadership abilities
·  Preference will be given to persons with a major in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering and those that have demonstrated an analytic approach to problem solving, exhibited leadership through campus and community activities and/or work experience, and have demonstrated initiative, self-confidence, communication, and interpersonal skills.
·  Identify, process and solve problems using engineering specific mathematical and computer design-based analysis methods
·  Compile findings and present them in a manner that promotes understanding, encourages collaboration and gains support from the team
·  Evaluate current assembly processes and procedures in order to implement improvements focusing on safety, quality and productivity
