Role Summary/Purpose

The engineer is responsible for coordinating the various organizations in Energy Engineering to manage the gas turbine flange to flange and accessory system Conversions, Modifications and Uprates (CM&U). All work is to be done in accordance with established Quality Standards (ISO).

Essential Responsibilities

• Analyze requisitions and conduct customer and/or internal requisition meetings to obtain and communicate complete project technical definition.
• Work closely with CM&U Application Engineering to assure understanding of proposals and to determine performance requirements. To support the CM&U Application Engineering function as needed.
• Define and place material demands in a timely manner to meet project schedule. Issue FMI (Field Modification Instructions) to provide complete technical and equipment definition to the Field Services Engineers and the Customer.
• Monitor engineering schedules and take preventative action to prevent slippage. Report unresolved conflicts to Management and advise Management of project status including major problems and outstanding accomplishments.
• Work closely with Design Engineers and drafting to assure understanding of requisition requirements and coordinate resolution of engineering problems that impact requisition schedule and/or cost.
• Maintain good communications with other GE organizations and customers to assure rapid resolution of problems and open items impacting assigned requisitions.
• Work closely with Manufacturing, Order Administration and Sourcing to assure timely flow of necessary engineering details to them and assist in resolution of Engineering/Manufacturing conflicts.
• Carry out special assignments which apply to procedures, cost reductions, continuous improvement, new features, forms, preparations, etc., which apply to all requisitions.

Desired profile

Qualifications/Requirements

• B.S. degree in Engineering, mechanical, power plant engineering and gas turbine are preferred
• Strong Project Management skills
• Solid English communication skills (written and spoken)
• Self-starter and able to work with limited supervision

Desired Characteristics

• 3+ years of Gas Turbine engineering or field service experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Chinese
• Imagination for developing and driving continuous process improvement
• Green Belt Certification (for GE internal candidate only)
