GE Aviation System’s Summer Internship Programme is a short term placement opportunity for people with passion for technology, dedication to technical excellence and feel a connection to GE's core values.
The programme is designed to give you experience of a live Avionics project, with responsibility for business-critical priorities, and also to create a pipeline of talented future candidates for our Edison Engineering Development Programme.
Essential Responsibilities
The Summer Internship provides experience of the engineering lifecycle within a safety critical environment. Exposing participants to a world leading global organization, participants have the opportunity to see first-hand how ideas come to life. Summer Interns benefit from GE’s global breadth by working alongside experienced project teams. The Summer internship is a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself in an encouraging, harmonious environment, while gaining hands on experience of some of the most advanced engineering challenges in the world today.
The Key elements of a Summer Placement include:
· Placement on a live Engineering programme, which may involve Systems, Software or Hardware Engineering, within Avionics or Power Distribution engineering projects, motivated by real GE business priorities
· Development of Engineering Competencies towards Professional Registration (EngTech, IEng and CEng)
· Volunteering Opportunities: Summer Interns are strongly encouraged to lead the way in championing GE’s core values. You will be provided with opportunities to be part of our STEM-based Educational Programmes, where you can also develop relationships with the wider GE Community, such as the GE Women’s Network.
· A genuinely collaborative environment with a committed team ethos, and a highly supportive professional and social community.

Qualifications/Requirements
· Studying for a Bachelors or Masters Accredited Engineering Degree in one of the following subjects (or similar) or equivalent knowledge and experience:
· Avionics, Systems/Aerospace Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electronic/Electrical Engineering
· Computer Systems Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer/Software Engineering
· Mathematics, Physics (with a keen interest in engineering)
· An analytic, collaborative approach to problem solving
· Dedication to a career in technology and a real passion for engineering
· An understanding of our business and products
· An interest in joining our Edison Engineering Development Programme
· Commitment to Personal Development and Community Volunteering
