Role Summary/Purpose
The Controls and Software engineering teams design controls system and provide state of the art control system software architecture for Locomotives, Marine and stationary Engine systems. Engineers working in these teams are responsible for developing controls and software that meet customer requirements, cost & reliability expectations.
Essential Responsibilities
-Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. Work with cross-functional & global teams to meet project objectives
-Participate in product conceptual designs, concept trade off analysis, software design and code reviews
-Interact with locomotive system, sub-systems, component teams to define and document traction system requirements and interfaces. Develop Simulink Model as per design requirement and carryout desktop simulations to verify the design.
-Responsible for Software Requirement Analysis, Software architecture Trade-off Analysis, Design, Failure Mode Analysis and Interaction Matrices, implementation and verification & validation (V&V)
-Adherence to Software Processes including documentation in all the phases of life cycle (requirements, design, V&V)

Qualifications/Requirements
Master's/Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Control system/Software Engineering from IITs/NIT's/Premium Institutes
1- 2 years' work experience in the Engineering/technology function in similar/relevant field.
Proven analytical, interpersonal, communication, organization, planning and leadership skills.
Hands on experience with the design and development of control algorithms, working knowledge of Simulink/Stateflow or similar tools.
Real time control development utilizing C / C++ and working with TCP / IP, Arcnet, Modbus and CAN networks
Experience with Serial and Ethernet drivers, GPS interfaces, and FLASH memory implementations
S/W design and integration experience of the control systems.
Experience in all phases of the product engineering/development cycle in addition to practical experience with the SEIs CMM
Desired Characteristics
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently with proven problem solving skills.
- Domain knowledge in the following areas: interfacing with serial, Ethernet and CAN drivers, file management, communication systems interfaces, object oriented analysis and design (OOAD), task management, firmware development, and engine or power control applications
- Proven history in developing software for x86, Power PC (83XX, 55XX and 5XX) and 68K architectures
