The role of Electro-mechanical CAD designer, GE Power Conversion UK, is an exceptional opportunity for your capabilities, enthusiasm, and experience to make a real impact at one of the leading energy technology companies working on major, global projects.
This role is based at our Marine Power Test Facility (MPTF) in Whetstone (Leicester). This state-of-the-art facility plays a crucial role in de-risking, present and future platforms, energy and propulsion technologies, micro grids and associated systems and solutions for both surface ships and submarines.
Ready for a new, exciting career opportunity, you will report directly to the Systems Engineering Manager, collaborating with a diverse engineering and business community.
As part of this role, you will also have responsibility for the following activities:
Comply with company and regulatory health and safety requirements.
Create and maintain all project and site facility drawings for electrical and mechanical installations.
The applicant must be capable of preparing multiple view drawings (3D and 2D) with particular emphasis on 3D.
Developing detailed designs to specifications, standards, and regulations.
Execute the design adhering to business standards, practices, and procedures.
Review engineering drawings and designs for accuracy to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
Providing technical support to Engineering colleagues.
Survey the existing building, structures, cable routing and pipe routing if required and align the 3D layout models and drawings
Maintain and update the facility 3D plant layout model.
Liaise with customers and suppliers (including site visits).
Assists in other areas of the business as required
Qualifications/Requirements
City & Guilds/HNC/HND/Degree in Computer Aided Design.
Up to date knowledge and expert use of AutoCAD 3D / Auto Desk Inventor and 2D CAD software for drafting.
Experience of cable routing / containment / pipe work installation / machine and support structure arrangement /3D plant design for infrastructure or industrial plant layout.
Ability to create electrical schematics, single line diagrams (SLD), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).
Ability to create detailed mechanical drawings: construction, plant layouts, assemblies, which including dimensioning, tolerances, material type, in accordance with BS 8888.
Application of mechanical principles for structures, construction, material selection.
Familiarity with CDM regulations.
Ability to communicate (both written and orally) effectively and clearly with a variety of professionals in a collaborative manner.
