We are looking to recruit a lead electrical design engineer within our systems engineering organisation. Based in our design office in Rugby, you will be responsible for developing our next generation of switchboards, electrical drives and distribution equipment for marine, Naval and power generation applications, and to optimise our existing product portfolio to ensure it continues to meet our customer’s needs. You will be involved at all stages of the product development process from concept to manufacturing, collaborating with project managers, technical leads, power systems and power electronics teams to deliver on customer requirements. The role assumes a high level of competence in the use of CAD tools and applications software. We welcome both junior and mid-level candidates to apply.

In this role you will:
Develop innovative electrical design solutions for electrical equipment and switchboards, taking responsibility for detailed equipment layouts, circuit diagrams and definition of materials.
Providing a principle point of contact for the electrical design portions of project execution, providing the mechanical design team with clear guidance for the electrical design requirements for equipment, supporting the procurement of electrical parts and assemblies and in resolving quality issues with vendors.
Participate in factory acceptance testing on electrical equipment and support the quality function in the timely resolution of customer issues and the identification of root causes.
Ensure that ‘Design for Manufacture and Assembly’ techniques are implemented in the design process.
Participate in technical reviews of designs, providing support for the resolution of problems and ensuring all designs incorporate best engineering practice.
We are looking for a professional with:
A relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or significant experience in an electrical design engineering environment.
Good technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, electrical circuit design and testing procedures.
Experience in the use of E-Plan or similar design software, for the creation of electrical circuit diagrams.
Experience in the use of AutoCAD for the creation of 2D drawings.
Good engineering, communication, and organisational skills.
British citizenship with a valid British Passport with unrestricted right to travel.
In possession of or being capable of obtaining SC level security clearance.
What will make you stand out:
Experience of packaging of power electronics and/or switchboard equipment.
Experience in the use of Siemens TeamCenter PLM software for BoM creation & management.
Experience of working with a de-centralised engineering team across international manufacturing sites.
Willing and flexible to travel internationally.
