Essential Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate leadership in communicating Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) goals, programs, and processes for multiple manufacturing shops
  • Utilize experience and expertise to solve problems, execute objectives, and positively impact business goals
  • Partner with shop managers, supervisors, and safety/ergonomic team leaders to integrate EHS functions with site operations
  • Develop and work with employee committees focused on Ergonomics, Safety, Security, and related areas to drive improvements
  • Perform audits with respect to chemical management, housekeeping, work rule compliance, and related areas
  • Maintain and implement EHS programs and procedures to ensure compliance with GE Vernova requirements and government regulations
  • Ensure all state and federal regulatory reports meet deadlines, fees are paid on time, plant is following relevant compliance rules (i.e. state radiation rules), and communicate with regulators/contractors
  • Administer compliance tracking programs and recordkeeping systems
  • Follow up with injury reports, partner with GE Vernova Bangor clinic, and keep records of incidents
  • Collect, clean, and analyze data to create relevant EHS reports
  • Develop and administer EHS education programs
  • Develop, maintain, and present relevant reports to track and drive EHS improvements
  • Assist in the design and implementation of change management procedures to ensure that EHS issues related to production changes are pro-actively identified and addressed
  • Participate in process improvement, cycle reduction, and other activities as required to support the Bangor team and site goals
  • Act as site lead for EHS systems and tools (e.g. Gensuite, workflows, and ATS)
  • Manage EHS and facility contracts (e.g. create PO’s and ensure bills are paid)
  • Approve all chemicals and contractors for site and manage contractor files
  • Field EHS questions plant-wide for both hourly and salary positions
  • Purchase materials for EHS and GE Vernova Bangor clinic items needed plant-wide
  • Act as liaison for security team including admin for security software issues
  • Communicate effectively and work well with others
  • Maintain accurate written and computer records
  • Use computers as required for the position
  • Understand appropriate EHS regulations including Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, The Resource Conservation & Recovery Act, and the Occupational Safety & Health Act
  • Develop multimedia training tools and conduct employee training and presentations
  • Effectively gain support and buy-in from employees and site leadership
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements

External:

  • 2-year post-secondary degree with minimum 1 year experience in an equivalent EHS leadership role in an industrial/manufacturing environment

Other Requirements/Responsibilities

  • Must be able to work flexible hours with limited work direction
  • Must be able to travel between Griffin Road and Maine Avenue locations as needed
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to:
    • Develop written and electronic records and to prepare and present reports
    • Use algebra, fractions, percentages, and statistics
    • Perform data management/mining and basic computer skills in Microsoft suite
    • Effectively use written and verbal communications including presentations
    • Effectively use leadership, teamwork, and influencing skills
  • Obey all safety rules including wearing personal protective equipment such as safety toe shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection in designated areas.
  • Comply with all practices and procedures including the GE Vernova Bangor Handbook, the Code of Mutual Respect, and the GE Vernova Spirit & Letter.
  • Qualify for and utilize specialized personal protective equipment (e.g. respirator), as required for the position.
  • Perform a diverse range of tasks and responsibilities by effectively utilizing cross-training and multi-skilling. This includes, but is not limited to, operating multiple machines simultaneously within the same shop/area and based on business needs.
  • Foster a safety culture by engaging in and supporting Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) audits, training sessions, related activities, and compliance with Life-Saving Rules (LSR).
  • Ensure that all products consistently meet or exceed the quality standards and customer expectations. Additionally, identify and address any quality issues promptly to maintain high standards and customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver the products/services right the first time, every time, with focus, using standard work and lean to ensure both safety and quality objectives are met and sustained.
  • Embrace innovation and a continuous improvement/lean mindset through collaborative efforts with Safety/Quality/Delivery/Cost/Culture initiatives supporting the overall success of the Bangor and GE Vernova Teams.
  • Innovate and solve problems rapidly with rigor, transparency, and to Stop Work when needed.
  • Complete all required certifications promptly and within designated timeframes.
  • Adhere to established company standard work procedures and continuously seek process improvements.
  • Complete all required training promptly and thoroughly.
  • Treat others with dignity and respect while being committed to proactively solving problems, raising concerns, and working collaboratively as one team.
  • Communicate with transparency, integrity, and respect to foster positive working relationships.
  • Take ownership of work and roles/responsibilities so each individual and each team is accountable for delivering on commitments.

Compensation/Pay

The starting pay for this position is $ 34.5058 /hour; after successful completion of 180 day probationary period the hourly rate will increase to $ 37.4159/hour. This posting is expected to remain open until at least November 15, 2024.
