Role Summary/Purpose
To support our local R&D Team we are in the process of recruiting a R&D scientist to run a Diagnostic Assay based Application Lab. The person will be located at our manufacturing site in Dassel and all work will be performed in close collaboration with local Global Supply Chain and our Global Technology Specialist.
Essential Responsibilities
· In charge of our Diagnostic FastTrax Lab
· Close cooperation with customers to optimize diagnostic tests (mainly lateral flow) on Whatman supplied membranes and Cellulose Fibre & Glass Fibre pads
· Supporting customer workshops regarding diagnostic test optimization
· Generation of application data to support the promotional and education activities of our Whatman Diagnostics portfolio
· Key technical & production support connected mainly to relevant complaint handling systems
· Close interactions with manufacturing, product management, commercial sales and quality – utilizing technical expertise to help resolve urgent issues with existing products
· Support to ensure laboratory compliance and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Regulations
· Laboratory work for critical support activities
Candidates should note that this role will be in scope for the proposed transition of GE Biopharma to Danaher and will transfer to Danaher at close of this transaction.
Qualifications/Requirements
· PhD or MSc in natural sciences, preferably material science or biochemistry, or equivalent knowledge or experience
· Proven practical experience in developing and optimizing diagnostic tests
· Preferably experience in the field of lateral flow applications
· Excellent knowledge about recent trends and developments in the field of diagnostic applications
· Documented experience of design ownership work
· Fluently speaking English, German skills are highly preferred
· Excellent communication skills
· Excellent computer skills and ability to work in both general and internal systems
