Role Summary/Purpose
The Design Engineer – RTB Mechanical Steampath, reporting to the RTB Mechanical Steampath Team Leader, is responsible for the detailed definition of all the steampath components via automated procedure on RTB New Equipment and RTB Service projects, including Retrofits and Upgrades, on both OEM and oOEM fleets and via manual procedure on similar projects on selected ITB fleets.
Essential Responsibilities
• Designing & Detailing steam turbine steampath components such as stationary/rotating blades, seals and diaphragms
• Preparing relevant design documentation (Layouts, 3D models, 2D Drawings) using CATIA, and quality documentation in accordance with appropriate standards, design rules, engineering policies and procedures
• Defining material specifications for steam turbine steampath components
• Carrying out necessary calculations related to steampath components (using company software, spreadsheets or hand calculations)
• Liaising with internal and external partners in the global engineering and manufacturing supply chain
• Providing technical consultation, assessment and disposition of NCRs.
• Supporting suppliers, site and customers, collecting, analysing technical data and providing resolution of technical issues
• Meeting deadlines for documentation (maintain On Time Delivery), quality and budgets.
• Supporting product development, process improvement and cost reduction initiatives
• Participating to relevant design reviews.
• Providing timely communications on significant issues or developments
Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications/Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, or similar, with 2 years minimum of engineering experience on Steam Turbines.
Technical skills / competences
• Understanding of steam turbine design and working principles
• Familiarity with modern engineering tools, norms and design rules
• Experience in layout design or design analysis of turbo machinery components
• Understanding of BOMs and Production Orders
• Knowledge of CATIA V5, PowerPLM, RPDM
• Knowledge of internal RTB automated steampath product definition procedure/tools (STITS/HT220) considered an advantage
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes for steam turbine components
• Good technical presentation skills
