Role Summary/Purpose
GE Aviation Consulting Engineer-Tube/Duct Design leads projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business and is a recognized expert in tube / duct design. In the Consulting Engineer-Tube/Duct Design role, you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
Essential Responsibilities
· Serve as a recognized technical expert in the design, manufacture and field support of engine build-up (EBU) components and systems
· Provide consultation to management, all design organizations, and supplier organizations
· Remain cognizant of state-of-the-art in external tube and duct designs
· Provide technical leadership in design reviews, task force, industrial committees, and design boards as necessary
· Work closely with the Chief Consulting Engineers
· Provide technical consultation to assigned organization, customers, suppliers, internal and external engineering and manufacturing organizations
· Enhance technical excellence in assigned design organizations
· Identify and recommend where improvements in knowledge of the specific discipline are needed or where technical training is needed
· Establish a total quality management strategy to assure early involvement on manufacturing process / producibility matters
· Provide leadership to help focus and integrate new technology smoothly into production
· Suggest areas where technology advancements are needed and recommend approaches / programs to pursue
· Lead / support study teams to address top problems within the organization or projects in focused technical areas
· Consult with and support the Chief Engineer's Office in the execution of technical goals of the office
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college
· A minimum of 8 years of design experience

· Understanding of manufacturing processes

· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
· Leadership to pursue correct engineering process in adverse conditions
· Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
· Six Sigma - Green Belt or Black Belt certification
