Role Summary/Purpose
The Consulting Engineer is an expert with bearings and bearing systems with an emphasis in hardware design, manufacturing and failure analysis. In this role, you will collaborate with design, quality, and service teams in addition to product segment leaders to drive innovation, quality, and cost. You will drive rigor, technical quality, and engineering excellence by engaging with cross-functional business stakeholders to solve complex challenges and deliver business outcomes.
Essential Responsibilities
· Develop and drive vision for activities related to new product development, upgrading existing equipment and existing and emerging issues associated with bearings and bearing systems with an emphasis on total turbine system interactions and trades and alignment with critical stakeholders
· Ensure that sound design practices, methods, and related tools exist
· Provide designated approvals while maintaining the right balance of implementation, action, and risk
· Collaborate with the tool-chain development community on implementation priorities with focus on speed of execution and risk reduction
· Introduce new methods to facilitate design decisions based on emerging technologies and underperforming product
· Guide optimization of MLA and site-specific product application
· Advise and engage with RCA teams
· Mentor and guide technical community on system trade-off studies, analysis, and approach to ensure optimal lifecycle solution
· Role model identifying, quantifying, and mitigating technical risk against business risk. Mentor and coach the broader technical community in this area
· Drive engineering excellence in the organization including, but not limited to, DFMEA, DFR, Six Sigma, validation processes, etc.
· Provide technical leadership in design reviews, taskforces, industrial committees, and design boards in a manner to steer towards business objectives
· Steer IP generation and reviewing
· Disseminates lessons learned across Engineering organizations and other functions
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering or related discipline or equivalent knowledge / experience
· Significant relevant engineering experience
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
· EU Work Permit if hired in Spain

Desired Characteristics
· Significant Wind industry experience
· Deep expertise in anti-friction bearings, including interaction of gears, shafts and structures with demonstrated success in NPI and NTI development
· Experience with bearing system design for ball, roller and tapered bearings. Component Lifing, failure analysis, manufacturing and metallurgy
· Site application loads evaluation and the turbine certification process
· Fluency in English
· Advanced degree from an accredited university or college in an Engineering or related discipline
· Proven leadership (indirect and/or direct) experience with global teams
· Makes decisions and manages conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
· Must be able to take ownership of issues and drive solutions
· Strong ability to influence others, drive change, and align cross-functional teams to success
· Demonstrated clear thinker – able to solve complex technical challenges and communicate actions/solutions in clear concise manner that drives impact
· Proven ability to work efficiently without direct supervision. Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve results
· Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
