Role Summary/Purpose

This Computer Hardware Engineer position is primarily responsible for the design and production release of compute platform electronics owned by the MR Premium Hardware RF and Digital team. Working with a global team, the engineer will support new product introductions and advanced technology developments in the compute electronics area.

Essential Responsibilities

Duties include (but are not limited to):
1. Development of 3rd-party off-the-shelf compute hardware (professional grade workstations and rack-mounted servers) and execution of the MR operator workspace subsystem requirements and formal verification documents.
2. Actively serve as member of a global hardware and software development team to define, test, and qualify commercial off-the-shelf products used in the MR system (PC, Monitor, servers, UI and storage devices)
3. Maintain strong relationship with critical suppliers that deliver material to MR product, including storage, graphics, memory and processor technologies
4. Collaborate with 3rd-party suppliers to perform integration activities needed as part of design transfer
5. Engage in multiple phases of new product introduction: requirements definition, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support.
6. Supporting install base including Customer Satisfaction Opportunities, Site issues, Supplier design change requests etc
7. Developing new opportunities to leverage Strategic Sourcing objectives and Common Technology initiatives in the MR Product line.
8. Ensure reliability, performance and delivery through supplier relationships.
9. Maintain a level of expertise on applicable compute technologies such as Linux OS, BIOS, memory, file systems, HW drivers, display adaptors, GPUs, and other hardware peripherals.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

1. Masters degree in Electrical Engineering
2. Experience in computer subsystem testing, analysis, BIOS, benchmarking and performance characterization at both the low level and applications level
3. Experience with GEHC drawing system and SCR process
4. Experience developing and using basic Unix/Linux commands and scripting (ie. Bash)
5. Experience with RedHat and SUSE Linux operating systems
6. Prior experience in a role requiring strong supplier engagement to deliver product solutions to the business.
7. Demonstrated technical leadership capability in integration activities
8. Demonstrated self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task
9. Ability to meet aggressive reliability, performance, cost, serviceability, and delivery targets
10. Experienced in developing project plans and estimates
11. Global project experience
12. EMC compatible design/solution experience
13. Knowledge of UL/ETL/IEC standards and how they apply to designs
14. Excellent teamwork, coordination and communication skills
15. DFSS or Green Belt/Black Belt Certified (Six Sigma Design/Quality)

Qualifications/Requirements

1. BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience (defined as a High School Diploma/GED and 2 years relevant work experience)
2. 2+ years' experience in PC workstation hardware and components, storage, graphics, processor & memory sub-components, and add-in PCI cards
3. Demonstrated experience with Compute technologies (PCIe, SATA, SAS, SSD, USB), PC BIOS and Linux operating system
4. Experience in OS and software installation procedures and technology

U.S. (Country) Specific Qualifications:
5. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States full-time
6. Must be willing to work in our Waukesha, WI facility full-time
