Role Summary/Purpose

The CMC Process Engineer – Thermal Processes has manufacturing engineering accountability associated with ownership of manufacturing equipment effectiveness & associated manufacturing process(es) of Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC’s) in the thermal process(es) for the Asheville CMC facility.

Essential Responsibilities

The CMC Process Engineer – Thermal Processes will own all aspects of thermal process(es) within the assigned functional area, including but not limited to:
·  equipment, tooling
·  process
·  qualifications
·  certifications
·  management of change
·  training
·  consumables, etc.
·  and maximizing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) This may include both existing production process(es) and equipment as well as New Product Introductions (NPI), from development transition planning to full scale / continued production, owning & driving all aspects of industrialization in the assigned thermal process area(s).

In addition, as the CMC Process Engineer – Thermal Processes,Duties and Responsibilities will include:

·  Serve as focal point to / from all technical & business entities relating to assigned thermal processes and/or equipment

·  Accountable for successful implementation of all thermal process(es) and/or equipment as process engineering / manufacturing engineer in assigned functional area

·  Responsible for continuous management & ownership of assigned scope, including management of:
·  change process
·  equipment needs
·  component transition & ramp
·  driving Root Cause / Corrective Action (RCCA) of non-conformance & deviation(s)

·  Own & drive special projects to ensure effective industrialization, lean, yield, cost, cycle & production improvements

·  Work boundlessly with all organizations, both hourly & non-exempt, including Cincinnati, Newark, Asheville, etc., in enabling effective parts / product industrialization and ramp

·  Work both autonomously as well as collaboratively in identifying needs, proactive support to manufacturing teams in enhancing production cost, cycle, yield

·  Articulate progression of projects and/or programs to all facets of the business, including technicians, process engineers, site leadership & executive business leaders, ensuring efforts support business goals & objectives

·  Performs other duties as assigned / as needed to support 24x7 manufacturing processes
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college (Or an Associate’s Degree from an accredited school or institution with a minimum of 2 years in related technical field; Or High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years progressive experience related to manufacturing engineering and/or thermal processing)

·  Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting and/or working in thermal processing and/or manufacturing environment

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):

·  Ability & willingness to support 24x7 manufacturing facility
Desired Characteristics

·  CTT, EEDP, OMLP and/or other formal leadership development program graduate and/or extensive proven track record & experience in thermal process manufacturing

·  Experience in thermal processing in autoclaves, pyrolysis, and/or melt infiltration

·  Experience working cohesively with Certifying Agents, Controlled Title Holders and/or Leadership teams

·  Experience in managing and/or Influencing skills for teams / individuals not within own reporting structure & delivering results

·  Ability to adapt to business needs & flexibility in changing priorities

·  Strong mathematical, analytical, communication (written / oral) & presentation skills

·  Proven history of sense of urgency in supporting production needs

·  Proven track record of effective training & mentoring of others

·  Strong acumen in cross functional communications & engagement

·  LEAN manufacturing experience & passion
