Role Summary/Purpose
The Data Engineer - Cloud automation will be responsible for design, development, and deployment of our Data & Analytics cloud infrastructure automation & services used to build/manage infra/applications build on “Big Data” technologies (HVR,Talend,Greenplum,Hadoop,EMR,Spark), both on-premise & in cloud (AWS). Using industry best practices & innovation,you will aim to provide high-performance, scalable,secure, & resilient systems to enable product dev teams & their products & services.
Essential Responsibilities
In this role, you will drive and execute the strategy for automating the deployment and maintenance of Data Ingestion, Modeling, Design, and Consumption components in the cloud.
• Design, build and maintain to support cloud automation delivery
• Develop maintainable, reusable automation components for the deployment & management of cloud infrastructure
• Partner with both core infrastructure (Coretech/Public Cloud) and Big Data across BUs teams on specific requirements and drive one common process
• Collaborate with colleagues across Cloud Infrastructure teams to help facilitate innovative solutions
• Coordinate with security and network teams to provide a robust infrastructure platform
• Evaluate emerging technologies for feasibility and integration analysis
• Actively communicate progress against goals
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent (STEM) with 2-5 years of experience as data engineer.
• A minimum of 3 years of Database/Data Warehouse, SQL (Oracle, Terradata, Greenplum, Hive etc.) experience is required
• A minimum of 1 year of experience using Hadoop ecosystem
Desired Characteristics
• Linux Administration (RHEL/OEL/Ubuntu)
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) services
• Knowledge of AWS Data Platforms (Redshift, RDS, etc)
• Orchestration and Configuration Management tools (Puppet, Chef, etc)
• Strong infrastructure automation skills in multiple programming languages (Ruby/Python preferred)
• Certification(s) in AWS is preferred
• Experience developing and implementing REST APIs to define application interfaces and boundaries preferred
• Familiarity with Big Data tools and platforms (Hadoop, Greenplum, HVR, Casandra, etc.)
• Familiarity with Informatica, Talend, and other ETL transport tools
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical audiences
• Demonstrated customer focus
