Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In the Lead Engineer role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities

In addition, as the Lead Engineer, you will:

·  Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

·  Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project

·  Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures

·  Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

·  Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues

·  Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

·  Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of IT, engineering, scientific or other technical experience)

·  A minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering position

Desired Characteristics

·  MS Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university or college

·  BS Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university or college

·  Licensed Professional Engineer (Up to date license in any State)

·  5 years of Civil / Structural engineering experience

·  CAD Proficient

·  Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functional boundaries

·  Project Management Professional (PMP) & experience managing schedule / budget

Experience with the following:

·  Completing or leading the analysis of designs and evaluation of assigned projects using:

·  sound engineering principles
·  adherence to business standards
·  practices
·  procedures
·  policies
·  and program requirements

·  Completing or directing others to complete accurate evaluations of structural systems using:

·  FEA
·  Dynamic Analysis
·  Ansys
·  Caesar
·  Heat Transfer Analysis
·  or other analysis packages

·  Designing and leading the installation of:
·  support structures
·  test facility buildings
·  and structural infrastructure from a civil engineering perspective
·  concrete
·  steel
·  land surveying
·  soil, etc.

·  Directing others in identifying and designing test cell requirements for environmental parameters including acoustics and emissions

·  Designing piping systems and associated structural supports in accordance with ASME B31.1 (Code for Pressure Power Piping) and B31.3 (Code for Pressure Process Piping)

·  Writing design, construction, and procurement specifications
·  Obtain budgetary quotes
·  and then implement the project once approved

·  Directing a team of architects, engineers, and outside contractors to complete the mission
·  This includes both unionized and non-unionized work forces

·  Assuring proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

·  Leading projects, processes, and related communication, with little direction

·  Strong oral and written communication skills

·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

·  Ability to influence others and lead small teams

·  Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact

·  Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

·  Effective problem identification and solution skills

·  Proven analytical and organizational ability
