Role Summary/Purpose
The internship is based at the GE Monitoring and Diagnostics site in Lisburn and is an excellent work experience opportunity for an enthusiastic student who is interested in the application of chemistry /chemical engineering methods into industrial product development. The successful applicant will work in the Sensor Technology team on dissolved gas analysis (DGA) using a variety of scientific methods. Training and further skills development will be provided ‘on the job’.
Essential Responsibilities
· Learn & understand the operation of GE online DGA equipment (such as Hydran Fuel Cell sensor and Kelman PAS technology)
· Work as part of the Sensor Technology team on R&D and quality projects applying current knowledge/skills
· Create & work to agreed test plans to deliver for your customer
· Support and maintain test equipment vital to team & customer (field) service projects e.g. GC (Gas Chromatography) & or Karl-Fischer operation
· Document and present results to management, the wider engineering team and other business functions
Qualifications/Requirements
· Completed at least 2 years in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering – related degree
· A strong scientific background & experience in hands-on experimental work.
· Ability to work within a team, or under own initiative
· Ability to understand and present new concepts clearly and effectively (including use of appropriate computer programs e.g. Word, Excel &/or Matlab).
· Strong problem-solving ability
· Strong communication skills, both written and oral
