Role Summary/Purpose

Essential Responsibilities

o Advise Customer to monitor and maintain water, steam and waste water chemistry within the limits prescribed by the Original Equipment Manufacturer and applicable regulations
o Advise the Customer’s team to operate the water treatment plant and chemical dosing systems to meet the treated water and steam quality specifications as required by the Original Equipment Manufacturer and applicable regulations
o Advise Customer to analyze periodic samples of lubricants, fuel oil, fuel gas, etc, whenever required.
o Support O&M Advisory Services Team and the Customer to manage inventory of all type of chemicals, additives and other related consumables to be used at plant site
o Maintain adequate inventory personal protection equipment (chemical suits, chemical resistant shoes, respirators etc.) for GE team and advise Customer to manage the same for Customer’s staff
o Advise the Customer for proper unloading and handling of all chemicals supplied by the vendors
o Understand OH&S risks / hazards and environmental / legislative aspect / impacts related to work activities and advise the Customer on the same.
o Advise and support Customer’s team to issue Confined Space Entry, Gas Free Certificate etc., as and when required under the Plant Safety rules for on-going jobs.
o Advise the Customer to manage all plant hazardous waste in accordance with plant EHS policy.
o Raise work orders for required operational preventative and corrective maintenance
o Advise the Customer’s team to maintain records and reports on the related works.
o Assess plant needs for chemical section and generate material requisitions and ensure timely procurement of the same through close coordination with Sourcing and GE O&M Advisory Services team.
o Co-ordinate with GE and Customer’s Warehouse team for adequate inventory management by using Computerized Maintenance Management System
o Ensure compliance with GE and Customer’s EHS policies, programs & procedures as applicable
o Advise the Customer for control of all maintenance documents as outlined in site Quality Management System
o Advise and guide Customer team to implement a comprehensive set of procedures covering all aspects of water treatment and chemical and waste management
o Ensure compliance with requirements for environmental, health and safety requirements in applicable plant operation advisory activities.
o Ensure implementation of Log-Out/Tag Out (LOTO) System by the Customer in accordance with the Customer’s policies and procedures in line with provisions of the O&M Contract.
o Co-ordinate with GE O&M Centre of Excellence (CoE) team, GE Engineering and other support teams for the resolution of complex issues relevant to plant chemistry,
o Ensure preparation and submission of Plant water treatment and chemistry related updates as per requirements of the contract.
o Support timely completion of plant root cause analysis for the technical events.
o Support site GE O&M Advisory Services team to ensure optimal availability, reliability, and budgetary performance while driving Customer value and GE/Customer productivity.
o Conduct the training and qualification of Customer’s operations and maintenance team as per guidelines of the contract.
o Recommend Facility modifications and upgrades to the Customer to enhance plant reliability and performance.
o Any other job assigned by the management.
Qualifications/Requirements

o M. Sc. Chemistry or Graduation in Chemical Engineering from an accredited College or University.
o Minimum six years of combined cycle power plant O&M experience with minimum three years in Plant Chemist position.
o Proficiency in written and spoken English language. Knowledge of Arabic language will be an advantage

o Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of an organization.
o Experience of costing, planning and managing plant outages
o Proficiency with computer tools
o Six Sigma training or equivalent quality training is preferred
o Ability to apply statistical methods for process improvement.
o Experience of using Computerized Maintenance Management System
