Role Summary/Purpose
The Lead Engineer will support the achievement of functional, business, and broad company objectives. The Avitas Lead Engineer is accountable for leading assigned product development projects with an emphasis on the technical aspects of the projects. He or she must provide the technical leadership and overall strategy and plans to manage complex programs. In this role, you will lead the technical direction of important product developments and enhancements that meet Avitas business needs.
Essential Responsibilities
Areas of technical scope may include the development of new products and product specifications, integrating commercial products onto autonomous platforms, creating engineering models and drawings, and developing related support equipment for NDE and aerial, crawler or subsea AUV inspection systems.
Responsibilities
· Operate within the broader Avitas team, executing technology and product development and enhancement programs, following the GE FastWorks, IR&D, New Technology Introduction (NTI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) processes
· Provide leadership and technical direction for assigned projects to achieve technical objectives
· Communicate with management on technical challenges and resource needs
· Champion and comply with company compliance initiatives and training requirements
· Support and lead the design, analysis, and evaluations of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
· Lead innovation and Intellectual Property protection
· Serve as a recognized leader in defining the state of the art in your recognized field of expertise
· Remain current in the state of the art within your own technical specialty for new technology introduction activity, performance improvements, manufacturing and special process technology
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited College or University.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience developing and testing complex systems.
· Experience in developing and bringing new products to market.
· Minimum of 1 years of experience in a project management role.
· Excellent communication/presentation skills
· Proven ability to operate in a team environment
Eligibility Requirements:
· Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.
· Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%, as required
Desired Characteristics
· Engineering experience in the upstream Oil & Gas business
