We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking and results-driven Data Engineer, who will work on designing, building and maintaining infrastructure and data pipeline for effective collection, storage, process and analysis of data for various grid innovation applications.

Reporting to AI leader in CTO organisation, the Data Engineer will work in close collaboration with GA product lines, R&D teams, product management and other GA functions.

This role will also be responsible to work with other functions across Grid Automation (GA) business to identify areas where the business can leverage common framework for data storage and data analytics to drive efficiency, and quickly develop POCs to solve critical problems for our customers and build state-of-the-art models and deploy them on edge or cloud based systems.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

·  Develop and maintain database structures, schemas and data models.
·  Apply efficient storage technologies (Relational, Data lakes, NoSQL etc.) to manage data storage, access and data security.
·  Developing and maintaining effective scalable and reliable data pipeline for data cleaning, munging, feature extraction, transformation of structured and unstructured data.
·  Build and maintain integrations with internal and external data sources and APIs.
·  Identify and integrate new datasets that can be leveraged through our product capabilities.
·  Automate Integration of data from various sources in a unified format and create transformation structure to based on business specific utilisation needs.
·  Monitor and optimise data pipeline for scalable system.
·  Establish appropriate data quality checks and follow data governance policies.
·  Work closely with other adjacency functions such as Data Scientists and ML engineers to cater relevant data expectations.
·  Collaborate with cross-functional teams of product management, R&D, and other functions, to understand their needs and develop innovative solutions.

Must-Have Requirements:

·  PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field with a focus on data engineering or electric power engineering.
·  Proven experience in the energy sector, smart infrastructure, or industrial automation, such as electric power systems, smart grids, connected buildings, utilities, SCADA/PLC systems, or Industry 4.0 platforms
·  Proven experience and demonstrable applied knowledge from previous operational deliveries in data engineering, with hands-on expertise in building and managing data pipelines.
·  Proficiency in Python, SQL, and at least one other programming language commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Scala, Java).
·  Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
·  Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP for deploying and managing data systems.
·  Extensive experience with demonstrable knowledge of ETL processes (Extract, Transform, Load) and automating data pipeline workflows.
·  Experience building data pipelines designed for GenAI models.
·  Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate smoothly with cross-functional teams and resolve conflicts proactively. Adaptable to work in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment, with the ability to address evolving challenges.

Nice-to-Have Requirements:

·  Familiarity with big data technologies like Hadoop, Kafka, or Spark for processing large-scale data.
·  Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms for building reports and dashboards.
·  Hands-on experience with GraphDB, SQL/NoSQL databases, and data warehousing technologies like Snowflake or Redshift.
·  Data analytics, storytelling and visualization.
