Job Description Summary

The Machine Operator X will work at the Greenville, SC Gas Turbine Manufacturing plant and will work set-up and operate a variety of advanced technical/ complex production equipment and tooling in a gas turbine manufacturing facility. You will also have ownership of compliance, safety, quality, and productivity in position of responsibilities.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Operate and manage a diverse array of machinery (manual, conventional, CNC) to execute numerous machining tasks on gas turbine components, assemblies, and tools, accommodating a range of sizes and complexities. This includes assembling and disassembling parts for machining purposes.
  • Conduct machine setups, which encompass:
    • Assembling, positioning, and aligning fixtures accurately on machine tools.
    • Establishing coordinate systems and inputting offsets into machine controls.
    • Measuring tools and entering data into machine controls (dimensions, compensation, wear, etc.).
  • Safely run machines for testing new processes, programs, and other modifications.
  • Adjust machines as necessary to ensure production of quality parts during both setup and ongoing production.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues across all process components (fixtures, machines, programs, inspections, etc.) to maintain part quality.
  • Perform regular maintenance on equipment and troubleshoot problems.
  • Continuously monitor and fine-tune processes to maintain part standards.
  • Address and safely rectify any unusual occurrences.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Process Quality Engineers, and Programmers to enhance processes, report any deviations from standards or instructions, and establish a reliable and consistent process.
  • Carry out Quality Control functions and inspections as needed.
  • Utilize various measuring instruments and gauges.
  • Collaborate as a team member to fulfill all duties.
  • Undertake additional related tasks as assigned.
  • Engage in Lean Initiatives to foster Safety, Quality, and Productivity improvements.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Must successfully pass 01X Advanced Machinist Assessment
  • Graduate of any technical tool maker or machinist program OR a minimum of one year’s experience in setting up and operating manual, conventional, or CNC machine tools such as Vertical Turret Lathes (VTL), Vertical Boring Mills (VBM), Horizontal Boring Mills (HBM), large milling machines, Numerical Control (NC) grinders, and lathes.
  • Preferred machine tool technical degree.
  • Willingness to work in a tobacco-free environment.
  • Ability to work overtime, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work occasional weekend shifts, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work 2nd(3PM - 11PM) or 3rd shift (11PM - 7AM), with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs and safety shoes, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screen

Machinist X:

Pay Rate: The pay for this position is $33.371 – $34.584. This position is also eligible for shift premium when you work on an off shift i.e., 2nd or 3rd shift. Plus $1.00 USD an hour on top of base pay. This posting is expected to close on August 26th, 2024.
