At Scaleway, Network Reliability Engineers (Network SRE) are highly independent and self-organized individual contributors who make packets flow in right directions. As a Senior Network Reliability Engineer, you will develop and maintain our always growing network to provide the best bandwidth to our customers.If you have always dreamt to work on one of the biggest networks in the world, this job is for you!Your missionMaintain and grow our rapidly growing backbone and DC network infrastructure: deployments, upgrades, migrations, peering sessions etcDesign and develop new architecturesBe always motivated to learn and test new technologiesHunt for new knowledge and contribute to the team's continuous self-educationCommunicate with other teams to prepare new deploymentsCommunicate with external parties: vendors, partners, network experts all over the worldContribute to the network monitoring improvementTune performance, flexibility, and maintainability of the networkCreate and maintain documentation and procedures to ensure scalability, manageability, stability and security of the networkLittle things here and there: troubleshoot ISIS, reproduce a bug, add prepends to a BGP route etcEnvironmentHalf a dozen of datacenters in several countriesNear 150k physical servers4+ Tbps of Internet backbone capacityA lot of custom hardware, including networkA bit (a few thousands) of traditional vendor devices as wellREST APIsA lot of PythonLinux in all possible variation

Who you are and what you knowYou've been engineering networks for some considerable timeYou know how TCP/IP, Ethernet, BGP, MPLS, IPv6, and all these things work beyond the level of a vendor certified config copy-pasterYou've heard something about IP Fabrics and EVPNYou have your own point of view on the SDN buzz; the difference between automation and orchestration looks rather clear for youYour are not scared of DWDM, multiplexers, transponders, amplifiers and fiber optics in generalYou are also not afraid of code. Not necessarily at a professional developer level but when there is a need to RTFS or sort an array, you know what to doYou are familiar with the latest trends in the networking industry: new protocols, last RFCs, key actors etcYou speak Englis
