Overview
The Inventory Optimization team focuses on delivering company profitability from clearance and discounted merchandise through the optimization of inventory, merchandising and pricing strategies. The team works to optimize lifecycle gross margin and sales productivity across all channels, banners and product categories of the DICK’S Sporting Goods family of business. Strategically partnered with the Supply Chain and the DICK’S Inc. org, the Inventory Optimization team also executes all Outlet and job-out strategies.
The Inventory Analyst is responsible for leading the development and implementation of transfer strategies for clearance and other at-risk inventory. These strategies will determine how to most effectively utilize our aged, overstocked and discounted inventory to support the merchandise plan, advertising, regional, and competitive initiatives. This role will be responsible for ensuring optimal inventory and assortment mix across the company’s banners, including building and maintaining by store capacity inventory plans.
Responsibilities
Clearance Inventory Management Strategies
· Lead clearance inventory store and DC transfer process and execution for product categories of responsibility
· Ensure clearance inventory is managed to promote overall productivity and profitability of the product through all channels of business
· Lead strategic partnership alignment with stores on enhancements and execution of the company’s clearance inventory movement network, execution calendar and performance
· Balance clearance inventory levels to drive margin generation and sales productivity to support the company’s profitability and overall inventory position
Inventory Actions
· Lead collective inventory strategy discussions, remedy support and opportunity/risk assessment for open-to-buy meetings
· Lead ad-hoc strategic inventory initiatives including job-outs and other off-price liquidation channels, managing reporting and sell-down
· Maintain proper inventory levels by store location to support sales, margin and turn goals by flawless execution of inventory management strategies
· Become an expert in backoffice Supply Management processes and inventory integrity best practices
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
· 1-3 years of experience in retail
· MS Office proficient
· Proficient in Power BI or other front end business intelligence reporting
· SQL/Python knowledge preferred
· Strong written and oral communication skills

Benefits
The hourly base salary range is $65,000 -$75,000. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
