This is an opportunity to drive compliance and system controls while exploring new ways of working to keep your day-to-day different and impactful.Foot Locker APAC is looking for a Payroll Operations Manager to join our team and oversee payroll operations across Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.Reporting to the Director of Payroll & Workforce Management and leading a small team, you will act as the gatekeeper of payroll compliance, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery while driving continuous improvement. You will work closely with HR, HRIS, and CX teams to strengthen governance, processes, systems, and end-to-end payroll operations.
Responsibilities
· Lead, coach, and develop team members, driving high performance and continuous improvement
· Oversee end-to-end payroll operations across APAC, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness
· Maintain and enhance payroll systems, processes, and controls
· Ensure compliance with local legislation, Retail Awards, and statutory requirements across regions, including supporting internal and external audits
· Act as the escalation point for complex payroll issues and sensitive cases
· Partner with HR, Finance, and HRIS teams on payroll initiatives and system changes
· Deliver payroll insights, analysis, and reporting to support business decision-making
· Contribute to ad hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
· Proven payroll experience in high-volume environments, with experience as a Payroll Team Lead/Manager
· Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, compliance, and governance within a large-scale workforce (1,000+ employees)
· Retail industry experience is highly regarded
· Exposure to New Zealand and Singapore payroll is advantageous
· Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g. ADP, Kronos/UKG, PeopleSoft, Rockfast)
· Experience in system projects (e.g. implementations, upgrades, testing) is highly desirable
· Advanced Excel skills (e.g. PivotTables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS)
· High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
· Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills
