Job description

Fiddes Payne Ltdwas established in 1993, with a basic range of herbs and spices supplying the health food, independent and delicatessen trade. Since then we have expanded to include home baking in our range under the Brand; Cake Angels and now supply all the major Supermarkets world wide, and are licences to produce Jamie Oliver, Disney and Mr Men products.

The role of Purchasing Assistant reporting to the Procurement Manager ensure maintenance of stock levels in line with production and sales forecasts and negotiation of commercial terms with suppliers in addition to sourcing new products for our new product development department.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage a 100% availability stock inventory against monthly production and sales forecast
  • The maintenance and administration of relevant purchase order and inventory systems / database
  • Management of specific projects, to include NPD Sourcing, Packaging Waste, Tendering
  • Comply and liaise with Quality, Finance, Operations and Commercial Departments

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory to meet works orders and production requirements
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure OTIF
  • Following up on Non-conformance issues (short code, damages, discolouration)
  • Processing returns and credits with suppliers
  • Close liaison with Planning, Warehouse, Quality, Finance, Commercial and Operations Departments
  • Maintain a comprehensive and ordered filing system
  • Pro-actively manage departmental issues
  • Accurate and timely upkeep of all internal stock control systems (manual and IT)
  • Processing purchase orders (printing or emailing to suppliers), through to sign off of approved invoice
  • Maintaining and updating accurate records of purchase orders, order acknowledgements
  • Represent the Procurement Dept in both internal and external meetings
  • Attain a good product and market knowledge and keep up to date with innovation
  • Management of NPD projects to include UK/EU sourcing, component development, sample approval and 1st production management

The ideal person for this role will be able to demonstrate three things:

  • experience in sourcing
  • experience in price/terms negotiation
  • competent in using Excel

Although we will consider new graduates with a relevant degree.
