Graduate/Trainee Bid Writer
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £16,000 starting salary, rising in line with performance (plus generous bonus structure following qualifying period)
OTE once trained (within 2 years): £36,000
About us:
We are a small, leading independent bid writing company based in Newcastle upon Tyne. Due to expansion we now have a vacancy for a permanent Graduate/Trainee Bid Writer.
The Role:
As an independent bid writing consultancy, we provide support to clients across a diverse range of industries and sectors. We therefore require a candidate who is able to write compelling, persuasive text across a very broad range of businesses and functions. A successful candidate will have a demonstrable natural aptitude for writing, which will be verified via a writing test during the selection process.
The role requires you to be comfortable with creating content for small independent companies one week and multi-billion-pound organisations the next. It is therefore essential that the candidate is confident in their writing ability and communication skills, and possesses strong business acumen.
You will ideally have a degree in business or a related discipline, or have the drive and interest to develop a strong working knowledge of the procurement world.
Main Duties:
- Create business-winning documentation that accurately reflects the client as a whole, and is produced to a standard that ensures completed proposals meet the bid specifications and guarantee the best possible chance of securing a contract
- Researching and developing your knowledge of procurement, and of a wide range of industries and services in general
- Working with clients to realise their goals and aspirations and gain a thorough understanding of their requirements
- Manage client relationships and maintain existing individual bid libraries
- Complete pre-qualification questionnaires
- Provide technical and commercial writing skills, displaying creative flair in tender submissions
- Review successful and unsuccessful submissions, feedback and lessons learned to promote continuous improvement
Skills and Experience:
- Outstanding writing, editing and verbal communication skills
- Should be fully conversant with Microsoft Word
- Ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines
- Strong general IT skills
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Enthusiastic and ambitious
- Show high levels of commitment and initiative to ensure winning submissions
Some travel may be required for the purpose of client meetings (all travel expenses are paid)
Selection Process
The selection process for this position consists of:
- Two interviews
- A one-hour writing test
