Context of mission :
We are looking for a Continuous Improvement Engineer based in EMPI factory, Bataan, PHILIPPINES, reporting directly to The Methods-CI Manager.
EMPI is lens manufacturing plant located in Mariveles, Bataan, Philippines. The VIE will work as a key member of the Continuous Improvement and LIFE team (Lean Initiative for Excellence). Among the primary responsibilities of this role will have to understand Essilor Manufacturing process, to support continuous improvement initiatives and then lead across departmental team on bigger projects.
You will need to be effective in proposing improvements and implementing locally, global best practices related to manufacturing KPI’s: yield, productivity, process control, quality and lead time.
Your main challenges will be:
To be able to rapidly integrate to a new culture, to learn in flight and to reinforce the efficiency and motivation of the team by bringing LIFE standard approach and methodology.
Key responsibilities:
Lean Deployment
- identification of opportunities and solution:
- Contribute to improve and to sustain important KPI. Conduct Kaizen events from time to time.
- Work with local teams in addressing and solving key issues on processes.
- Proactively identify, define and implement opportunities for process improvement.
- Benchmark best practices from others Essilor factories in Asia (Philippines: 3, Thailande: 2, China: 1, Laos: 1) and share it within EMPI.
- Optimize shop floor flows from goods reception to production to shipment – reducing lead time, improving productivity and yield.
- Analyze impact of new products / technologies/flows implementation and propose optimal solution in regard of cost, timeline and customer needs.
- Develop mid and long term continuous improvement strategy, share and deploy LIFE methodology and best practices within the Plant.
Project management – continuous improvement:
- Understand customer needs and what make added value from customer perspective.
- Act as a team member & lead projects from the project definition to the implementation of the selected solution.
- Coordinates and animate the continuous improvements activities/processes in the plant.
- Provide organization reviews, audit flows (performance monitoring) and problem analysis.
Profile:
- Master degree in Industrial Engineering/Methods/Production System or related field with at least a first experience (abroad would be a plus)
- Knowledge in Automation/ Code understanding is needed
- Knowledge of 6 Sigma/Lean tools and methodologies would be a plus
- Fluent in English
